Excerpts from the Anderson Campaign…

Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Endorses Anderson for Senate
Leading taxpayer advocate gave Anderson a perfect rating in 2009 due to his vote against Proposition 1A.

SACRAMENTO – California ‘s leading taxpayer advocate, The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA), has endorsed Assemblyman Joel Anderson in his bid to become the next State Senator from the 36th Senate District. Anderson’s service in the state legislature is what earned him the HJTA endorsement, which is considered the endorsement gold-standard in California Republican primaries. “Joel’s steadfast opposition to higher taxes earned him our highest rating,” said HJTA President Jon Coupal.

My Sunday San Diego column at FlashReport…

I attended the annual Grossmont Hospital Foundation gala last night while Congressional voting was taking place on healthcare.  Some say it wasn’t a good night for hospitals to celebrate, but the Grossmont event was scheduled long ago and Nancy Pelosi didn’t ask about any scheduling conflicts.

Any night that the community comes together and significant funds are raised for a local hospital from hundreds of generous donors — the Feds not included — it’s a good time to celebrate.

Time to Go, Bob.

Many in San Diego have said for years that Bob Watkins had a promising future in elective office.  He did of course serve on the County Board of Education, but that clearly was for him a low-level stepping stone to something higher profile, such as County Supervisor, State office, or even Congress.

As far back as 1988, Watkins toyed with a shot at State Assembly, but in more recent years hung his future on his stature as a well-known downtown establishment business type, GOP donor, Lincoln Clubber and member of the San Diego Regional Airport Authority, while biding his time on the County Ed Board.
