Dissecting the Issa statement: An obvious question

With all the buzz today about the Darrell Issa retirement — has anyone asked the obvious question?

Read the statement.

• Issa does not say why he’s decided to retire.
• He does refer to his service in “California’s 49th District … coming to an end.”
• He does say he will continue to find ways to keep up the battle.

Question: Should there be an opportunity in the 50th Congressional District, currently represented by Duncan Hunter, would Issa consider running there?

Does anyone want to argue that the more easterly district is a safer GOP seat?
