President Obama discussing immigration reform in June 2009, Official White House Photo by Pete Souza. In a clear signal that Obama will demagogue any issue to help his re-election chances, we read this from the U-T. President Barack Obama told about 70 national leaders in a private meeting Tuesday that immigration reform is still one of his priorities despite the …

Eyewitness account — Sylvia Sullivan writes about last Weekend’s turbulent CRA convention in Sacramento

Guest ColumnGuest Column 10 Comments

Sylvia Sullivan is a much-respected East County conservative leader.  In this column she describes last weekend’s chaotic CRA convention in Sacramento.   Incredibly, she reports here, Senator Joel Anderson and others were denied their right to vote as CRA delegates.   Here is Sylvia’s eyewitness account: There were four police squad cars in the front parking lot as I arrived at the CRA …

Welfare checks can be used to buy alcohol and cigarettes in California

Kimberly DvorakKimberly Dvorak 5 Comments

On a straight party-line vote California lawmakers gave the green light for welfare recipients to purchase alcohol and tobacco products using taxpayer money. The insanity in the Golden State continues despite the state’s $23 billion deficit and double-digit unemployment. Recently California changed the way it disperses food stamps. In an effort to take the stigma away from food stamps the …

Stirling: Dumanis would be a tool of the public employee unions

Guest ColumnGuest Column 1 Comment

Submitted as a comment by Retired State Senator and Judge Larry Stirling… D.A. Dumanis betrays her lack of experience in any public-policy arena besides the narrow one of politics and the criminal-justice system with her position on the retirement issue. Because of the magic of compounding and the time-value of money, the entirely portable, front loaded, and privately managed defined-payment …

KUSI-TV investigates possible political Bias in Redrawing of SD City Council Districts — A New map would apply for a Decade.

Jim SillsJim Sills 37 Comments

“It’s  Deja Vu all over again”  baseball’s  Yogi Berra once said, and tonight KUSI-TV news hints that could be happening with redrawing of San Diego City Council districts. You can see KUSI’s lengthy story here.  Political bias in the process was supposed to have ended in 1992 when voters approved an “independent” commission to do the job, but KUSI asks whether …

KUSI Drops Bombsell on Redistricting

Owen KelloggOwen Kellogg 3 Comments

I hope someone else saw KUSI’s segment tonight on labor’s infiltration of the City of San Diego’s redistricting commission because I missed the first few minutes. What I did see was KUSI rip the “non-partisan” redistricting commission apart. It appears that a good number of the board members have significant ties to labor and that the commission’s lead staffer is …

Block for Senate, (Insert Name Here) for Assembly

South Bay SunnycrestSouth Bay Sunnycrest 2 Comments

In local political news today, the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote that Marty Block — everyone’s favorite tax-raising-after-he-promised-not-to-do-so Democrat — is looking to run for the State Senate seat currently held by a termed-out Christine Kehoe. Former Assemblywoman Lori Saldana is in the mix, and there are rumblings that newly-elected Assemblywoman Toni Atkins might jump in. All depending upon redistricting, of …

Billion dollar corruption within the U.S. picked Afghan regime

Kimberly DvorakKimberly Dvorak Leave a Comment

After reviewing Afghan custom records, the Wall Street Journal reported that during a three-year period more than $3.1 billion in U.S. dollars left Afghanistan through the airport destined for Middle Eastern countries like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. More than $3 billion has been shipped from a country the CIA Fact Book claims only collected $1 billion in taxes annually. However, …

Labor Council’s “Middle Class Taxpayer Association”

Steve RiderSteve Rider Leave a Comment

If ever a group assembled under a more inaccurate name, I’d be interested to see it. The “Middle Class Taxpayers Association” isn’t a new voice for responsible stewardship of our tax dollars. It’s a front group shilling for the San Diego Labor Council. The Labor Council doesn’t even try to hide its involvement. It seems silly to use this name, but I suppose there are people or news media who might confuse it with a real taxpayers advocacy group.

Tony Krvaric is accused of Silence on Call-Box Controversy — but this Photograph of him seems to speak Loud and Clear!

GOP Chairman Tony Krvaric was accused this weekend of keeping strangely mum on the SAFE – Call Box controversy brought to light recently by City Councilwoman Lorie Zapf.  The City Beat Guy ‘called out’ Mr. Krvaric in a tweet, asking  “Where were you on SD Safe?  Haven’t heard a peep from you calling on Republicans Roberts and Kulchin to stop taxing.” This statement …

Five Months after their 2010 Election Sweep, Escondido’s Conservative Trio is Getting the Results they Promised

Escondido’s conservative city council majority apparently intends to govern the same as they campaigned for office!
