Oh, Universities are Fair and Not Ridden with Leftist Bias!
Taken from NewsReal Blog-September 1st, 2010:
A study recently came out from my university, UC-San Diego, concluding that universities are not ridden by leftist bias. The study notes that campus characteristics—ranging from small liberal arts colleges to large universities—substantiate claims that campus conservatives gloat in their minority status and are quite comfortable with it. Bogus conclusions if you ask me!

UC-Irvine MSA Suspended: A Milestone in the Battle Against Islamo-fascism
After a year filled with anti-Israel sentiments at University of California campuses, society can find solace in UC-Irvine’s decision to punish its Muslim Student Union. On June 14, 2010, an AP piece revealed that the infamous UCI “11,” MSU hecklers that disrupted Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren’s speech in February, were convicted of charges ranging from disorderly conduct to obstruction of university activities. The MSU’s antics subsequently resulted in their year-long suspension at the University of California campus effective till August 31, 2011.
Jumanah Albahri Writes Another Letter to the Editor Filled With Lies
From the Horowitz Freedom Center:
Jumanah Albahri, the UC-San Diego Student who admitted publicly that she was “for” the gathering of all Jews in Israel so that they could be more easily slaughtered, has submitted a letter to the UCSD Guardian. Her doublespeak and false claims speak for themselves.
Dear Editor,
Your abysmal coverage of Justice in Palestine Week and the Horowitz fiasco reeks of Hearstian and Horowitzian journalism.

Avoid Being “Hooked” and “Lured” into the Hookup Culture
http://gabriellahoffman.wordpress.com/2010/04/28/avoid-being-hooked-and-lured-into-the-hookup-culture/
As an enthusiast of fishing, I know firsthand how to hook and reel in a fish. It requires diligence, patience, and tolerance for the mess that entails such an activity. Fishing goes hand-in-hand with love, as well. Yet, to say it in terms of my values, the guy must be willing to hook you up (the girl) after effort upon effort, no matter the mess, and endure the wait till he obtains his prize (you). When finding the right match it is best to meet people, find similarities and desirable traits, and have subsequent yet mutual feelings blossom. The au natural way of finding love apparently is diminished in the age of “hooking up” at the collegiate level. The antiquated analogy of “there’s plenty of fish in the sea,” as the correspondent metaphor goes, provides an opportunity for men and women to seek potential mates (the fish) from a big pool of any given population (the sea) at the university setting. Yet, when you want to have many fish to hook and lure with your fishing rod with little effort, only disappointment will ensue for the parties involved.
The Progressives Are Coming! The Progressives Are Coming! Oh Wait, They’re Already Here
I do not think there has been a week where I have not been bombarded by a CALPIRG representative on Library Walk at UCSD. It seems like I’m quite the appropriate prey for them: a student minding their own business, not giving a care, and just trying to get to her classes without any distractions. Just as I have hopes that they will attack another unsuspecting student, the CALPIRG representative and I cross paths. Little do they know that I am aware of the tactics they pull: putting on a nice façade to give off an approachable edge, making the endless plea for education reform on campus, and the fact that I, the student, can make such a wholehearted difference if I contribute five dollars of my precious, albeit nonexistent, personal savings to their “worthy” cause. Yet, I have built up great defenses against these vermin. The solution: politely tell them to bug off and say that my funds do not support progressivism.
Luce Lady and Polemist Ann Coulter To Be Fearless and Informative at UCLA
There’s nothing better than hearing Ann Coulter speak and educate the Youth about the evils and woes of liberalism.
Provocative, insightful, and fiery, Coulter is a magnificent orator and communicator. She simply says it all, and without any hesitation in doing so. Liberals hate her, conservative rave about her, and consumers readily read/buy her books, allowing her to climb the ranks of the New York Times Bestseller’s list every time she comes out with a new book.

From sunny and charming La Jolla, California, I bring rather daunting and implicating news about the attack on free speech at UCSD. For the past several weeks, UCSD students have faced ramifications of a situation taken way too far. From the Compton Cookout to the Associated Students of UCSD’s injunction on cutting media organization funds to the hanging of a noose in Geisel Library to the display of a Ku Klux Klan hood on the Theodor Seuss Geisel statue, a lot of things have transpired on my campus for the worst. Yet, the only media outlet at UCSD exposing the truth behind these calamities is The California Review, the conservative paper whose editor-in-chief, Alec Weisman, is attributed for such excellent and fair reporting of the incidents.

It’s free to attend, they are extending the deadline until March 18th. I believe rooming for students is free, but if you’re weary about this, be sure to call the Luce Policy Institute at 888-891-4288 about housing. Or find a local hotel for a reasonable deal.
Report From the Trenches of UCSD, Part 2
Things took quite a toll as more racially triggered events sprung on the UCSD campus. A noose was found hanging on February 19th, 2010, at the seventh floor of Geisel Library. The culprit, a student who was not identified by name and race, apologized for the incident, citing in UCSD’s main paper, The Guardian, “I found a small piece of rope on the ground earlier in the day. While I was hanging out with my friends a bit later, we tried jump-roping with it and making it into a lasso. My friend then took the rope and tied it into a noose. I innocently marveled at his ability to tie a noose, without thinking of any of its connotations or the current racial climate at UCSD. I left soon after with one of my friends for Geisel to study, still carrying the rope. After a bit of studying I picked up the rope to play with, and ended up hanging it by my desk. It was a mindless act and stupid mistake.” You would think that anyone with some sense in their brain would know what a noose is and not even cogitate making one? Apparently, she should not have toiled with and even considered this idiotic thing! Legal action should be taken, minority or not, as it is a hate crime. Alas, to know when and if justice will be served is another issue in itself as investigation proceedings are looming in the future.

UC San Diego Freezes Funds for 33 Media Groups, Dissolves Student TV, Threatens to Punish Students for Protected Speech
February 23, 2010
SAN DIEGO, February 23, 2010—The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and its student government have violated the First Amendment by freezing funds for 33 student media organizations, dissolving the student-run television station, and threatening to punish students involved in a controversy over a party invitation for an event called the “Compton Cookout.” Student government president Utsav Gupta has explained that his repressive actions were due to “fracturing of the student body on an issue” and “hateful speech.” Further, under pressure from state legislators who seek to punish protected speech, UCSD has launched “aggressive investigations” into the party invitation. After many students came to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) for help, FIRE has written two letters to UCSD defending the First Amendment both on and off campus.

The UCSD Overreaction & the Death of Free Speech
From Alec Weisman, Editor-in-Chief of the California Review about UCSD’s latest attempt to restrict free speech on campus:
Alec Weisman, Editor-in-Chief
Last weekend, individuals from several fraternities decided to throw a racially-themed party mocking Black History Month, called the “Compton Cookout.” This ghetto-themed party was definitely offensive, as it urged people to wear specific outfits and fulfill various stereotyped behaviors. The party was obviously meant to be funny although the theme was definitely in poor taste.
The Conservative Movement needs young blood; join and fend off evil liberal forces!
As a young female conservative, I can only retort and emphasize how important it is that more young conservatives (whether season or new) come before society and help shape future generations. Whenever I venture to conservative or Republican-sponsored events, I see very few people my age. Adults and the elderly currently occupy the mainstay of the Conservative Movement. What happens when our predecessors die off, and leave us to toil with the ills of society created by our liberal opponents?
Destroying the Family Is Key to Hindering Black America
Since the dawn of time, the heart of life has been family. Any other support unit envisioned is clearly unimaginable, albeit being existent in great quantities. The entity of family teaches individuals the cores of life and the values necessary to be successful during our time on earth. Having a stable one, particularly, with competent parents has proven to be the most viable recipe for human success and achievement. With family, individuals grow up with guidance and the basic foundation implanted in their minds to be successful, productive, and most importantly, happy. Unfortunately, the presence of a strong family unit is virtually nonexistent in the black community. This is spelled out in broken families that constitute Black America today, where the lack thereof of a stable familial unit is ever-present and sadly permeating with broken homes, single mothers, and abusive relationships. With the entrenched pattern of having the family unit destroyed, the act of moving forward and forging an industrious society in Black America will be absent and ever-troubling. What are the people of America to do if a key demographic is continually diminished and denigrated for being “unfortunate” because of the color of their skin?
For the Love of Israel
As a conservative and staunch supporter of the state of Israel (if you do not know or cannot tell, I’m Jewish), I feel it is imperative that Americans fight for Israel’s existence and being. Being a productive entity in this world, full of culture, and also a big supporter and ally of the U.S. (well, Obama is not exactly advocating for this great nation), Israel is very important in world affairs. It is constantly being threatened by those who hate its existence, deny the Holocaust and its devastation in the world, and those who wish for the death of Western Civilization.
It’s Living Proof- We Need More Young Conservatives!
I just recently found out that I won an essay contest from the Conservative Agenda Project (CAP), which I discovered from The California Review editor Alec Weisman from a Collegiate Network editor’s conference. Originally, the contest was to have 25-35 winners to make up a book on how young conservatives talk to their peers about conservatism. Unfortunately, there were only six winners (although, I must add I’m fortunate to have won), including myself, and the book won’t be published as a result.
The California Review’s Most Exciting Issue Yet!
Check out one of the most controversial, yet enlightening issues of The California Review, being its January 2010 edition out now! Staff writers including yours truly, editor Alec Weisman, and other contributors alike critique Obama’s first year in review, offering insightful yet equally probing information and words that will astound and resonate with all readers. Now this is how the young minds of today’s Conservative/Republican Movement think; relish in the fresh perspective from UCSD!
A New Milestone in Presidential Qualifications: Necessity of a “First Pooch”
Tradition has long held that qualifications for President of the United States be explicitly spelled out through Article II of the Constitution. They entail that the President: serve a four-year term (maximum of two) with a vice president serving the same allotted term(s), must be at least 35-years-old, must be a naturalized citizen for at least 14 years, be the Commander–in–Chief of the armed forces, deliver a State of the Union address, etc. Yet, as the last year transpired, a new qualification surfaced and seemed unavoidable to acknowledge: necessity of a “First Dog.” Maybe this is part of that wonderful change we so heartily believed in, like that of the fundamental change that is to come? This current president is not frankly a proponent of the Constitution, our “Law of the Land,” deeming it as a document that, “…didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution…is a charter of negative liberties.” So, putting forth this necessity of a “First Doggie” would be acceptable in this man’s eyes as he sees it appropriate to change, and eventually rid of, the Constitution for good.

Crisis in CA’s Central Valley is Exposed in Latest Cal Rev Issue
Misty Tienken, contributor to The California Review and volunteer for the San Diego Republican Party, writes about the woes of no water in California’s Central Valley. This telling issue is best grappled in the following article as some California politicians ignore this issue and let the U.S.’s bread basket die before our eyes.
Conservatism, A Manifesto
As a conservative in this day and age, I have accustomed myself to being called a “redneck,” “tea-bagger,” “domestic terrorist,” “hate-monger,” “homophobe,” “religious-nut” and every other name in the book by liberals and the media. These terms pulsate and fester in the supposedly tolerant mindset of society. Who has given such laudable people the moral authority to dub us as any of the aforementioned, you may ask? Well, it is those who espouse the lovely doctrine of limited freedom, bigger government, immorality, spreading the wealth, mediocrity, and diversity (hidden racism). Let us examine how close to the truth that labels proudly put on us really are.
