DeMaio Campaign Raises $540,000 in 25 Days
DeMaio Campaign Raises $540,000 in 25 Days
Demonstrates Deep Grassroots Support
in Key First Campaign Reporting Period
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mayoral candidate Carl DeMaio announced today his campaign grossed $540,000 in the first 25 days of the campaign. Nearly 90% of donations came from within San Diego County and the median contribution was only $150, which illustrates an impressive grassroots donor base capable of generating much more in the future.
“I’m up against the labor unions and special interest insiders who will be filling the campaign coffers of my opponents,” said DeMaio. “That’s why I asked San Diegans to partner with me to fix the mess at City Hall – I am overwhelmed and humbled by their response.”
Mayoral Candidates: Why Wait?
Dear Mayoral Candidates,
After a month of hard work the first reporting period has come to a close. Each of you know exactly how much you have raised. Sure the paperwork might not be submitted or even completed, but you know the number. So don’t make us wait a month, share with the rest of us. Each of you has access to post on Rostra, so let’s see some numbers! If you don’t want to post without the others, maybe just e-mail Barry Jantz how much you raised and how much cash-on-hand you have by July 4th and when he gets all three he’ll post all three. If anyone holds out he holds onto the numbers, but releases the name of the candidate(s) who spoiled our fun.
San Diego Business Leaders Endorse Fletcher
Why we support Nathan Fletcher:
We are pleased to announce our endorsement of Nathan Fletcher’s candidacy for Mayor of San Diego. As chief executives and leaders of companies, we know what it takes to run a large organization. The attributes that make the best executives are vision, courage and leadership. In business, these attributes separate the good from the great. Nathan has what it takes to do this job and be a great Mayor.
To move our City forward, our next mayor needs to be a visionary leader who isn’t tied to the gridlock and problems of the past. And our next mayor must have the courage to confront tough problems head-on, bring people together and make difficult decisions.
Knowing he will be labeled a “Career Politician“ (SD Mayor is his 15th campaign since 1979!), Bob Filner’s committee sent out an interesting fundraising e-mail pitch on Friday.
“The job of Mayor demands an outsider’s view and approach combined with an insider’s understanding of the problems and the solutions,” Filner writes in a signed letter.
Filner then asks for donations by the June 30 reporting deadline. And where to send them? C/o Filner for Mayor at an address on “S. Victory Bl., Burbank, CA.”
Burbank? San Diego Democrat CPAs and treasurers will wonder about that detail!
……..OK, Now Back to the interesting Filner letter:
Pete Wilson: Why I support Nathan Fletcher for Mayor
I love San Diego. I’m very grateful to have been given the privilege of serving as its mayor for eleven years. During my administration, the phrase, “America’s Finest City” was more than a slogan. It was the goal and mission statement that drove every decision we made. Our city continues to offer such great promise, but it will need strong, enlightened leadership to realize its full potential.
That’s why I’m supporting Nathan Fletcher for mayor of San Diego. He has the judgment, energy, and integrity to deliver on that promise. He represents a new generation of leadership we need to solve unsolved problems and triumph over new challenges.
DeMaio Announces Support of Over 1,400 San Diegans in First 14 Days of Campaign
Mayoral candidate Carl DeMaio today announced that his campaign has received the support of over 1,400 individuals in just the first 14 days of his campaign.
“As other candidates curry favor with entrenched politicians, government labor unions, and special interests, I’m seeking support from the people who really count: rank-and-file San Diegans,” declared DeMaio.
“San Diegans are not impressed by entrenched politicians, labor union bosses, and lobbyists who pat each other on the back and support candidates who will preserve the status quo,” DeMaio noted.
Stirling: Dumanis would be a tool of the public employee unions
Submitted as a comment by Retired State Senator and Judge Larry Stirling…
D.A. Dumanis betrays her lack of experience in any public-policy arena besides the narrow one of politics and the criminal-justice system with her position on the retirement issue.
Because of the magic of compounding and the time-value of money, the entirely portable, front loaded, and privately managed defined-payment plan with a match is a superior program for the public-safety employees themselves, in every way.
The underfunded, ill managed, high overhead, defined-benefit plans have proven to be a national cancer on our Federal, State, and local governments in addition to being a lousy deal for the employees.
