Plescia for Supervisor, Please.

Monday, May 6, 2013
posted by Sunshine

With term limits and aging careers set to impact the current Board of Supervisors over the next four to six years, the partisan makeup of the Board will almost certainly change. Based on voter registration statistics and other demographic treads, the Board is set to change to a long term 3-2 Democrat majority.

But that’s only if we don’t take back the Dave Roberts seat.  That’s right, Robert’s seat is the key to a Republican majority and is the third most Republican seat in the County — currently a five point Republican registration advantage. That should be a safe Republican seat in San Diego — at worst a lean Republican district even in a Presidential general election year.

The Taxman!

In the mid-1960s, as the they continued riding a wave of popularity, The Beatles released the classic album Revolverwhich opened with the song “Taxman.”

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street … If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat … If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat
… If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet.

The lyrics are not only timeless, but also dead on for those of us constantly enduring the taxman’s wrath today.

June 2012 Primary: N. County Perspective on Supe D-3

The District 3 County Supervisor’s race race looked early on like a battle between Steve Danon, the challenger, and Pam Slater-Price, the 20 year incumbent. After Danon racked up a serious list of endorsements and accumulated a respectable war chest, indicating he was serious about “bringing it,” the incumbent folded her tent, said “no mas,” and withdrew from the re-election bid leaving Danon all alone. When I was interviewed regarding this sudden development I said that there was no way Danon was going to walk unopposed into that seat… I was more right than I knew… A little while later Dave Roberts (D) of Solana Beach and then Carl Hilliard (R) of Del Mar entered the race and between their self-funding and their fundraising they made sure it was a very competitive contest.

The Danon Steamroller has some competition

The local San Diego great politico John Dadian is quoted as calling the Steve Danon campaign for the 3rd District Supervisorial seat “the steamroller,” but thus far there hasn’t been much to roll over since he had drawn no opponents and the incumbent has bowed out of the race.

Well folks, we’re in a new year and things have changed! In fact Del Mar City Councilman and Mayor Carl Hilliard and Solana Beach City Councilman and past Mayor Dave Roberts have both announced their intentions to take on Danon for the seat.
