Be Careful, My Fellow Conservatives. We’re Not Out Of This Yet.

Conservatives are in near euphoria as November approaches. All reliable polls suggest that Republicans will take back the House. Some indicators even see the Senate changing hands. Assuming Obama doesn’t create some crisis and find a way to blame Conservatives, I am planning a celebration on election night. But only a brief one. Then, we must get ready for 2012. …

4 Million More

So 4 million more Republicans than Democrats voted in primary elections nationally. This is the first time this has happened since the Great Depression, says the news. Tells me a little about who has the energy in this election. Also makes me think Zapf’s chances are pretty good in the 6th San Diego Council seat – an area that seems …

SD Chief Operating Officer’s Memo Claims That City Has Made “Significant Reductions”

Steve RiderSteve Rider 2 Comments

I’m truly puzzled how one can come to this conclusion. Below are financial figures for the city by several departments over the course of 2003 to 2009. A few occasional departments show a sporadic reductions, but one doesn’t have to be financial wizard to recognize that they general trend is clearly increased spending year over year. Such inaccurate language from someone so high up in the private sector would end their career.

With our San Diego city council slashing local library hours and services — cutting the library budget 24% — perhaps it’s time for our wise leaders to look at what Riverside County did over a decade ago. The county, with 34 branches, contracted out the operation of their libraries to a private firm (LSSI), and today the county supervisors are …

The mailer linked below from the “Committee for Jobs” landed in mailboxes today.  Insiders say that at least one head honcho at the Labor Council (that may narrow the list, of course) is fuming. “There’s a little secret that the San Diego City Council and the Labor Unions don’t want you to know,” reads the “Urgent” and personalized message, targeting …

It Never Happened But Revenge Has Been Taken Anyway

Well, he never did it. Pastor Terri Jones called off the Koran book burning. Unfortunately, the media took this planned, but obscure, little incident and and turned it into a world wide event with ramifications that we’ll be experiencing for quite some time. That is the subject on this week’s Bob Siegel Show. The program aired 9-12-10 and can now …

San Diegans do not live within Pacific Gas & Electric’s service fiefdom, but we are nonetheless affected by the giant utililty’s political weight-throwing.
