Barry Jantz’s story went “live” 1 Hour and 50 minutes
before the Union-Tribune story came at midnight.
That’s a fitting finish for the U-T which was days, and
sometimes WEEKS, behind the most interesting
story of the whole primary… Juan Vargas’ amazing
come- back.
When Mary Salas declared victory on June 9th the
U-T printed that… then fell asleep for 3 weeks until
SD Rostra kept reporting how Vargas was closing
in rapidly.
Oh….and thanks for the Hat Tips and acknowledge-
ments of our work on this story, U-T.
Ha Ha, that will be the day…. 😉
Jim, your work on this race — from start to finish — has been truly amazing. Great job! SD Rostra is doubling your salary. Unfortunately, the math is easy on that one. Readers, here is a snapshot of all of Mr. Sills’ work:

Some thoughts from Jon Fleischman this morning…
“Last night Mary Salas conceded the 40th State Senate District Democrat primary to Juan Vargas, in what some are calling a victory for the big-business community, who largely funded Vargas’ effort. At least until you look it up, and realize that in six years in the Assembly, Vargas scored between zero and five percent on the CalChamber’s legislative scorecard.”
