Numbed by unemployment problem? 10 points to ponder

Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax FightersUndesignated Leave a Comment

RIDER COMMENT:   I think we Americans all are suffering from “unemployment fatigue.” We are sick and tired of discussing, pondering and complaining about this ongoing problem. But this reality is still a huge depressant on our economy – both economically and psychologically. Logically unemployment should still be the #1 issue in the November election – which is why Obama …

UCLA study guts the claim that HSR fosters economic growth

Yet another reputable study — this one reported in the LOS ANGELES TIMES — guts an underlying assumption of HSR believers.  See the article below.  Japan’s experience with HSR over 30 years demonstrates that “. . . as an engine of economic growth, [HSR] ‘will have only a marginal impact at best.’ ” Moreover, HSR would likely PROMOTE suburban sprawl, the …

Superb commentary last month from columnist Jeff Jacoby of the BOSTON GLOBE. The Bob Filner Biography the Left Wants to Hide

It occured to me that even many of my knowledgeable allies are not fully familiar with the historical degree of affiliation Bob Filner has with socialist and communist organizations. His background speaks for itself. Below is a comprehensive summary of Filner’s red-tinted political affinity for collectivist, tyrannical government.  It’s clearly a biased piece, but that does not mean it is …

Socialist Sweden spends more on education than us? Nope.

Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax FightersUndesignated 1 Comment

This is an expanded version of a letter to the editor concerning education that I submitted to the U-T newspaper. It didn’t run, but no need for my research to go to waste. Dear U-T Editor: Teacher Sharon Collins’ letter selflessly calls for higher taxes for education, citing socialist Sweden as her shining light. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jun/21/letters-sd-schools-teachers-labor-pact/?print&page=all She didn’t do her homework. …

Gov Brown vetoes a paltry 0.14% of state budget – pathetic

Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax FightersUndesignated 1 Comment

A whopping 0.14% of the bloated state general fund budget vetoed by Brown. Sadly, this paltry line item veto amount continues the California governor bipartisan tradition of vetoing almost none of the spending. The traditional amount is about 0.25% — one quarter of one percent. Jerry couldn’t reach even this low benchmark. http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalertlatest/2012/06/gov-jerry-brown-vetoes-195-million-from-final-ca-budget.html

Pathetic 15 person left wing “rally” scores U-T media coverage

Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax FightersUndesignated 4 Comments

The U-T ran a story today (Monday) covering the Sunday downtown protest against the evil-Koch brothers and other rich folks reportedly meeting in an unknown area hotel to discuss funding limited government candidates and causes. Fair enough. Political rallies and protests by every side deserve media coverage. But a FIFTEEN PERSON protest? Come ON, man!! http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jun/24/rally-targets-kochs-political-influence/ “Rally targets Koch brothers’ …

California unemployment fund is broke — and getting “broker” every day

Richard Rider, Chairman, San Diego Tax FightersUndesignated Leave a Comment

California is broke. We all know that. But one component that deserves at least passing notice is the state unemployment fund. Surprise! It’s broke. So broke that it’s borrowed federal funds to keep paying people not to work. Now CA has to charge CA employers a payroll surcharge to pay the money back. It’s not a huge tax per employee, …

Taxpayer resistance to local California school bonds grows

The League of California Cities tracked voting outcomes of the California local tax and bond measures. RIDER COMMENT: Obama’s environmental chrony capitalism continues to shine as a stirling example of central planning run amok. Liberals hype Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election — until they realize that they are losers

Fun new ad — showing how critically important the Democrats claimed the Wisconsin recall election was — until they realized that they were going to lose. For you right-of-center Rostra supporters of Nathan Fletcher (even for the trolls!): You don’t need to believe Carl DeMaio backers concerning Fletcher’s pronounced move to the left.
