Good news to share about Rostra’s earlier story  on an “open” seat at the five-member San Diego Community College Board!  Education reformers and GOP forces responded almost immediately to SD Rostra’s Action Alert,   and key potential candidates are now weighing the options this weekend.  Republican leaders take the opportunity seriously.  I can’t disclose the potential names yet, but “Watch this Space” for details soon.  The filing deadline is Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 5:00 pm in the Registrar of Voters office, 5201-I Ruffin Road,  Kearny Mesa.

District B includes the polite communities of Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Tierrasanta, Allied Gardens, Serra Mesa, Mission Village, San Carlos and parts of Navajo.  Registered Republicans  (36,709) outnumber Democrats (33,988) in District B by a margin of 2,721, a s of March 1, 2012.

No filing fee and No nominating signatures are required.  To publish a 400-word “Statement of Qaulifications” in the sample ballot  costs just  $1,130,  a real bargain.

The S.D.  Community College Board presides over  San Diego City College  (The Knights),  Mesa College  (the Olympians) and  Miramar College.  All are valuable educational institutions.
