If  You want to help San Diego’s military families this year, your best bet is with the local  Armed Services YMCA.   This mission of this “Y” is to help those families “Stress Less and Connect More“, according to human dynamo Brittany Catton, their proactive development director. Pictured above are local heroines, the Avante Garde auxillary, which donated $6,300 to the AS-YMCA in March, just the latest noble deed in their decades of good works.

Here is more useful information about San Diego’s beloved Armed Services YMCA from their current newsletter.  Thanks to Brittany Catton for keeping SD Rostra informed about their projects.

Armed Services Y San Diego: Making Military Life Easier

Dear Supporters of the Armed Services Y,

We thank you for supporting military families. We are gearing up for the holiday season and we need your help to support junior-enlisted military families. Click here to see our Holiday brochure on how you can donate and volunteer or host a toy drive.  Fox 5 and CBS 8 Stopped by to see our Toy progress; we are at 800 toys, and would like to reach our goal of 5,000 toys for our military families on the waitlist! Thank you to our title sponsor, the Spiva Family Foundation, as well as the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, and OMBAC for their support!

The Armed Services YMCA was rated to be in the top 3% of charities nationwide by Charity Navigator, and USA TODAY just wrote an article about honoring Veteran’s Day by supporting legitimate and fiscally responsible charities, and we are proud to be included . Thank you for your support and we will continue to make the most of your donation!

Please Enjoy our November PhotoSnapshot of Events: Active Duty volunteers with Adults with disabilities, the PLUS Foundation BBQ Picnic, UCSD Sorority visits our wounded warrior program and more.
 .
We have partnered with the San Diego Foundation for easy online giving, and any online donations made to the San Diego Armed Services YMCA on December 14th and 15th will be matched by the San Diego Foundation as part of their GIVE BIG Campaign, so please consider making your end of year/holiday donation during that time to double your donation.

We hope you have a great Veteran’s Day! Thank you for making military life easier for San Diego families!
