Obama approval New Low

Today’s new national poll by Rasmussen Reports shows Mr. Obama has ‘strong approval’ from 22% of voters, while 43% express ‘strong disapproval’.

Main Cause for this trend is no secret: Health Care is giving the Obama administration a major Ulcer !

Just examine the chart. That Big Drop in summer 2009 was the Town Hall fiasco. The 2nd Drop (December 2009) was the XMAS health care vote.

The President’s backing spiked up after the January State of the Union speech, but now the News is again FULL of Health Care…. so Mr. Obama lost all his January speech gains and plummeted ever lower.

Just 13 months ago (!), the President had ‘strong approval’ from 44%, and only 14% strongly disapproved. In just over One year he has virtually stood those numbers on their head. That is not easy.

That the President is politically astute was proven is his near-perfect defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2008 for his party nomination. His runoff campaign was good enough to beat the lackluster McCain effort.

So the Question of the Day is: why does a Smart President repeatedly damage himself on an issue that is a repeated, proven and pole-to-pole Loser for him?

I cannot explain why the President would push all his political chips into the middle of the table when the opposing player is showing 3 aces.

But as a Republican, I am grateful to the President for helping revive the Republican Party by making government-run health care the #1 voter issue.
