Issa or Campa-Najjar: Who Really Represents the District’s Values?

A conservative Latino’s view on politics…

PART III of my series on Campa-Najjar.

31 TRUMP DISTRICT DEMS SHOW US CAMPA-NAJJAR

  • 31 Democrat freshmen won in districts President Donald Trump took in 2016. Almost all of them ran similar campaigns as Campa-Najjar.

They portrayed themselves as:

  • moderates or “Blue Dog” Democrats.
  • representatives who would be their own person and not kowtow to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
  • Officials who wouldn’t impeach unless the evidence was absolute and bipartisan.
  • elected to follow the district’s will, not their party’s.

Sound familiar? Yes, because for four years we’ve heard similar from Campa-Najjar. Again, candidates never holding office can say anything they want, especially when they give their detailed plans to change the system.

CAMPA-NAJJAR ISN’T THE EXCEPTION

The reality? As freshman representatives, no one cares about their “detailed plans.” They’re expected to fall in line and support the status quo. Occasionally, one stands out.

Someone like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) because the media can make stars out of politicians (break them too). AOC’s part of the new socialist wave that has captured the hearts and minds of the mainstream media, so she’s an exception.

We’re a conservative district, so Campa-Najjar can’t afford to stand out as a full-blown Democrat in front of cameras but would likely quietly vote lockstep with his party – Democrats.

The 31 freshman Democrats can show us what to expect if we elect Campa-Najjar. The most straightforward example is the Impeachment Inquiry. Remember, they said, they’re not there to tow the party line or do Pelosi’s bidding but to represent the will of the people.

Most Trump districts felt Impeachment should not happen and was a sham.

ONLY TWO FRESHMAN DEMS VOTED THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE

All but two freshman Democrats voted to impeach, and they knew they were walking a tightrope. Hemming and hawing to avoid revealing what they would do until necessary. The two that didn’t – Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and Collin Peterson (D-MN)

Notice Van Drew has an “R” by his name. He believes Impeachment was a sham and switched parties. Peterson followed the will of his district and agreed with them. His words were brave and fearless. Maybe more so than Van Drew because Peterson remains a Democrat.

  • “This process has been a mistake, and I will not be whipped in line by my party. I may stand alone, but I stand in good conscience. History will show this to be a mistake, and the Senate will make short work of an acquittal.” ~ Collin Peterson

Peterson’s the only Democrat who lived up to his word. I have no doubt Campa-Najjar will state he’s his own man, but this vote is a clear signal, there’s a 94% chance Campa-Najjar will vote the party line.

This is a damning, if very general, statistic, but between backpedaling and apologizing to his base, along with his very leftist endorsements, everything points to Campa-Najjar leaning much farther left than the moderate he’s claiming to be.

  • 29 freshman Democrats out of 31 in Trump districts deceived their constituents by voting for a sham impeachment.

When you have this many freshman Democrats stating one thing to their district constituents to gain votes and then betray them once elected, what makes anyone believe Campa-Najjar will be different?

  1. Why didn’t you include middle names for Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden? Obviously, because they are not commonly used. Nor is President Obama’s, but your use of his obviously proves that you are not as apolitical as you try to sound in your posts.

    Hypocrisy,

I hope you’re staying safe during these times. That’s a straightforward answer. I write hefty articles and as deadline approaches, minor items like that I may miss. It’s not uncommon but since I’m thorough, I don’t think it happens as much to me as others. I have no editor. I’m usually pretty good with dotting the “I” and crossing the “T” but every once in a while I’ll miss something.

I know those two names by heart, thus the easy remembrance. I don’t know the others by heart.

I am a conservative w/libertarian leanings. I am very political, to the chagrin of both opposing parties b/c I don’t fall in line. Seeing two dictators in action makes me realize the greater good is a press that challenges and represents the people by uncovering what these politicians are doing, reporting on them objectively and letting us decide. That hasn’t happened since 2000.

I also believe we can’t be Party members that accept the status quo. For Democrats, we’re seeing that with these over-the-top Governor shutdowns and for Republicans, with state leadership that couldn’t spell cat if you spotted them the C and T but know every scheme to make enrich themselves. Just ask our CAGOP chair who became a millionaire through backdoor politics.

I digress. Take care and happy upcoming holidays.

  3. William,

You may have missed my point that you mention Obama’s middle name only because you think it will make people think of him the same as they do a truly evil man who shared that name. Having read many of your posts, I believe that is beneath you.

As you wished for me, I too wish you a Happy Holiday Season and a Merry Christmas.

  4. I understood your point and answered it. I can’t help if it doesn’t jive w/your predetermined belief.

Precious but predictable in what you got out of the article. ‍♂️

    Take Care brother.
