Last week, NathanFletcher.com was named one of 2011’s top five campaign blogs in the country by prestigious Campaigns and Elections Magazine. The site was ranked along with sites for President Barack Obama, Congressman Ron Paul, former Governor Tim Kaine (US Senate) and Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna (Governor’s race in Washington). NathanFletcher.com was the only local government race to be recognized.
Campaigns and Elections said, “Local races can be hard to generate blog content for, in part because of the issues at play in the race. But Fletcher’s campaign for mayor of San Diego has managed to make its blog a model by frequently posting short “Supporter of the Day” videos several times a week. The candidate himself also posts updates to the blog. The content here proves that you don’t need an edgy design to be powerful. In short, despite the relatively basic appearance, this blog for a mayoral race is more sophisticated than many campaign blogs for federal office. Take note, Congress!”
Nathan has also been recognized locally by SDRostra.com and 10News for his innovative, influential social media campaign. According to Klout, a tool used to measure social media influence and reach, Fletcher has the highest score of all mayoral candidates.
“We are using every avenue possible to reach voters, including new and non-traditional methods,” said Nathan Fletcher. “The world has changed, and the way people consume information has also changed. We are going to use innovative technology to communicate with voters on their phones, tablet devices and computers. Our blog and social media campaigns are just the beginning. We look forward to unveiling more in the coming weeks and months.”
