A common gun control canard is that “guns cause suicides.” They point to our nation’s high gun ownership rate, and our “resulting” high incidence of suicide.
Only one problem — the U.S. DOES NOT HAVE A HIGH SUICIDE RATE. Japan, which bans guns, has a suicide rate more than double ours.
Indeed, among the 26 OECD “civilized” countries — ALL of which have much lower rates of gun ownership — the U.S. has the 9th lowest suicide rate.
Sigh. Facts are such troubling things.

There is a lower rate of death from those who play Russian Roulette with revolvers when compared to those who play Russian Roulette with pistols

Russian roulette was Charles Darwin’s idea. It culls the herd, and raises the IQ average.
Richard, I don’t think it is working. Seems just the opposite is happening.

Harold, the solution is obvious — we need more roulette players. Hey, I’ve got it! A government Russian roulette lottery draft.
Wait. No, that won’t work either. That’s just random selection.
On the other hand, if I get to pick the winners, then this might have the intended effect!

Hmmm, I’m going to give this Russian roulette idea more thought.
Here’s an approach I’m mulling over — a tournament with a million dollar grand prize (no runners’ up prizes or “participation trophies” need be dispensed).
It could be a fascinating tournament to rival March Madness. Indeed, we could establish fantasy leagues to get everyone involved, and perhaps fund the grand prize (after I get my cut, of course).
I’m thinking The Donald as the game show host. I’m on a roll! I’m gonna make a killing!!!!
I need to take up gardening.
