Two notable end-of-the-week events to report today… Steve Danon adds the best-known fundraiser in town, Karolyn Dorsee, to his 3rd Supervisorial Dist. bid against incumbent Pam Slater-Price. Dorsee will oversee a Danon fundraiser later this month… Meanwhile, in East County, freshman Assemblyman Brian Jones filed a Candidate Intention Statement this week for 2012, signaling he will seek a 2nd two-year term. He held the 77th District seat for the GOP last November when Joel Anderson moved on to the State Senate.
Preview: Slater-Price vs. Danon in District 3 …. In the Supervisor race, incumbent Pam Slater-Price begins with a big financial edge, reporting $318,661 cash-on-hand in a year-end filing. Steve Danon is starting early, hoping to narrow the dollar gap by this Summer, so the addition of Karolyn Dorsee is critical for him. Slater-Price’s races have been helmed by Tom Shepard & Associates, with consistent success. This contest, featuring two energetic Republicans, figures to be one of the most entertaining San Diego county elections of Campaign 2012.
Jones making the ‘Right Waves’ in Sacramento… Brian Jones’ signing of a Form 501 (Candidate intention) is very good news for GOP and Tea Party leaders alike. He just took office in December, but Jones is already a leader among first-term Republicans. He has an ambitious, but realistic Reform Plan for California and should be a top State Newsmaker this year and next. Stay tuned for that… John Wainio of The San Diego Group piloted Jones’ winning Assembly race last year, turning back worthy GOP challengers Chris Rubin and Bill Wells in a memorable June 2010 Republican primary.
