. . . And had a great time! That was the general sentiment of those I talked to at the Red Fox in San Diego Thursday night for the meetup between denizens of SD Rostra, SD CityBeat and Two Cathedrals, plus their friends. I think more than 50 attended.
Politicos and other notables spotted there included Chris Crotty, Barry Jantz, Colin Parent, Lorena Gonzalez, Dave Rolland, Erica Holloway and the Mighty Thor, who I just missed seeing. (cries)
If you click the photo, you’ll be taken to a short YouTube video clip of Dave Maass describing the event, uploaded by yours truly. Maass begins by pointing out that Lucas O’Connor of Two Cathedrals slipped out of the way just before the video recording began.
“You never know where these videos are going to end up,” Maass noted accurately. “I don’t care where the video ends up.”
Maass further confesses he learned the proper pronunciation of SD Rostra. The o is short as in dog, not long as in roast, as he had been pronouncing it. Despite Maass’ worries that the event would compete with his famed quiz nights, he liked it, he really liked it!
“To walk in and see Lorena Gonzalez sitting with Barry Jantz and a bunch of Rostrans and they’re yukking it up — good times. It warms the heart to see people be able to get together, have a few drinks, and enjoy the art of politics together.”
