Dustin Steiner gets a key recruit in his GOP primary bid to succeed Nathan Fletcher in AD 77.  Longtime successful fundraiser Jean Freelove of San Diego is already at work for him, as he competes with ex-Councilman Brian Maienschein.  Steiner’s next fundraiser is in Scripps Ranch on October 27 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.   If interested, contact Jean Freelove at  jean.freelove@fcgi.biz  or visit Steiner’s  campaign website.

Dustin Steiner is a member of the Miramar Ranch North planning group, serves on the  San Diego County Republican Central Committee, and since 2007 has been the valued Deputy Chief of Staff for North County supervisor  Bill Horn.  He resides in Scripps with wife Jennifer and daughter Reagan.

………..THE  77th  IS A  STRONGLY  REPUBLICAN  DISTRICT

Republicans hold a 9% voter registration lead over Democrats  in the redrawn AD 77.  Meg Whitman swamped Jerry Brown here  55%  to  39%  last Fall, and the GOP’s Carly Fiorina beat Barbara Boxer for US Senate  54%  to  38%.

  1. With the new Open Primary System, it may be Steiner vs. Maienschein in the November General Election as well.

  2. Re: Alger – I think at this point that is a near certainty.

Rostarians – does the Central Committee have a policy on what to do in cases like that?

I REALLY hope they don’t endorse – not because I like Brian or Dustin but why in the world would you want to encourage a GOPer to consider caucusing with the other side? Cause that would be PRECISELY what I would expect the deal Dems to offer Brian (for example) if the Party endorsed a fellow Republican in one of these jungle primary run-offs. My own two cents – get public pledges to caucus with the Republicans upon election from both and then stay the heck out.

  3. Gentlemen:

Thanks for your interesting analyses. It’s worth remembering that
filing for the State Assembly does not close till March 13, 2012,
or a little more than 4 months from now.

So please hold all Bingo cards, and let’s see if the Democrats
    eventually field a candidate here.

  4. True Dat jim.

But it is hard to think of a competitive one off top of head in that district. I don’t think they ALLOW dems to live in Poway. MAYBE someone from Carmel Valley?

OF course for the interesting race of all time – Donna 2012 😉
(though I think even she would get crushed and maybe not make it to November)

  5. the dems have a candidate. his name is rj hernandez. all i know is hes making the rounds. and hes got a website, twitter.
