Let’s face facts. Ted Cruz screwed up big time.
When Cruz committed to support the eventual Republican nominee, that’s the only thing he said. He apparently left some things out.
A big mistake.
Cruz did NOT say, “I will endorse the nominee, just as long as the nominee doesn’t make disparaging comments about my wife and suggest my dad was involved in the JFK assassination.”
He clearly should have been smart enough to mention those things.
End of story. Cruz offered NO caveats, so he needs to live up to his commitment.
And, for you married folks who say you’d endorse Trump in the same situation — well, I’m certainly glad to know your commitment to “doing the right thing” by Trump is more important than a commitment to your spouse.
How’s that working out for you?

Crazy Bernie hates Hillary but even he endorsed the nominee, Hillary. Cruz needs to be the bigger man and endorse Trump. Not endorsing Trump could give the WH to Hillary. Cruz needs to put the country ahead of his feelings and ego. His non-endorsement of Trump caused fireworks in the Texas delegation break out sessions. Cruz got hammered hard for not endorsing Trump. He needs to man up and endorse Trump.
I believe the value of the Cruz endorsement is questionable in this situation. Maybe his wife and dad are more important to him than whether the strength of his endorsement will change the outcome of an election.
But, if Trump loses, those to blame will be principled conservatives? I think not.
If Trump loses, let’s start with his own demagoguery. As well as an inept GOP establishment that created a situation in which he was even acceptable as a nominee.
Out of curiosity, why is it that Trump is never the problem?

Dan,
I don’t know about you, but where I am from (the same city that Donald J. Trump is from), giving your support to a man who insults your wife and your father would not make you the “bigger man.” In fact, you wouldn’t be thought of as much of a man at all.
Another one of the rare times where HQ and I agree. No self-respecting New Yorker would endorse after his family was trashed.
General note to commenters, not in reference to any comment above, but for an attempted one:
You may believe or know in your heart that something is true. It may even be true. But, unless it has been proved to be true, you can’t allege or charge it here, especially if potentially criminal in nature.
Allegations of collusion, blackmail, and/or sexual harrassment simply are not allowed on Rostra, not unless it has been proved. It makes no difference whether you’re making such allegations against a Democrat, a Republican, or a Martian.
One more thing, you can continue to purposely change the spelling of someone’s name to make a point, but we’re above that here. We’ll continue to correct the spelling.
Please try again.
Thanks.
Hypocrisy taking the higher ground?! I almost choked on my coffee.
So Trump got a little rough with his comments. So what, get over it. The average American doesn’t care.
What they do care about are things like illegal foreigners getting discounted fees at State Universities that California citizens don’t get. Illegal foreigners just walk into any emergency room and get better health care than our vets. That’s how perverted America has become under Obama and Hillary Clinton. The weak, polite establishment Republicans like Boehner and Romney wring their hands and change NOTHING.
Things like this are exactly why 650,000 Dems and Independents re-registered Republican in Pennsylvania to vote for Trump. Americans are sick and tired of the weak minded and easily offended who run to a safe space when someone calls them a name. Man up, suck it up and get tough. It’s a tough world out there.
It’s about time for a tough minded street fighter like Trump. He will fight hard for the American people and put citizens first over illegal foreigners. He will not back down when he fights Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. He will fight and defeat ISIS. He’s a winner and it’s about time Republicans backed a winner and a fighter.
PS: Yes, I was the one that TA was calling on the carpet. But I won’t whine and run for a safe space.
Hi Dan.
Since you brought up “illegal foreigners,” I have a question:
Why do you suppose Cubans coming over the Rio Grande have an automatic right to stay in America, with a legally defined path to citizenship? Do you support this?
Fact 1: Cuban citizens do suffer adversity and risk due to the policies and failures of their government.
Fact 2: Hondurans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Columbians, Venezuelans, etc., face similar adversity and risks due to the policies and failures of their governments.
Fact 3: Cuban expats represent a solid Republican voting bloc in a key swing state.
So, is it all about “securing the border” or winning elections?
Show us the Trump/GOP platform plank that calls for the elimination of the Cuban loophole to border security.
The Cuban program, in place since LBJ, is clearly about Cuban exiles becoming Republicans and favoring the GOP in elections. That’s why Obama supports it!
