Barring some unforeseen development (Donna Frye style) the City of San Diego will vote to effectively ban Walmart to save us from the evils of cheap groceries and consumer choice. Here’s a little picture of Todd Gloria who has been Labor’s voice on this issue. We can only hope he finds gainful employment with Walmart in January 2013.
A Telling Answer to a Simple Question
Leaders (and I use that term loosely) who pushed for Proposition D now know that there won’t be a hike in the already high sales tax in the City. The question for Jerry Sanders is: Are you still a Republican and if so, why? It’s a good question that I’d like somebody to ask him for two reasons. First, Jerry …
The Genius of Prop A
Proposition A, the County wide ban on Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) is the most brilliant proposition I’ve seen on a ballot in a long time. The reason I love this Prop is not just because it bans union blackmail of merit shops by requiring they hire union labor and pay into union pension and health care plans in order to …
The Chamber of Who Cares
The Chamber of Commerce plans to meet on Thursday to determine whether they will support or oppose the sales tax increase. One moment I think that as a Chamber of Commerce, it’s only logical they vote against Proposition D with its damaging impacts to business and consumers. Three different subcommittees of the Chamber did recommend they oppose Prop D. Then …
Public safety v. Taxpayer
There’s a cartoon going around California recently that’s a discussion between a firefighter and a private sector employee. Simply put, it’s hysterical. There are two versions, one with cursing and one without. I’m linking the clean version but personally I think the one with cursing is much funnier. The reason I enjoy the cartoon is that it speaks to the …
Jerry Sanders = Mike Aguirre?
Say the name Mike Aguirre and it conjures up images of long pompous diatribes, public shouting matches laced with profanity, and bullying anyone who disagreed with him. The political farce surrounding Proposition D has shown us that Jerry Sanders can fairly be compared to his one-time nemesis, Mike Aguirre. Various reports throughout San Diego paint a disturbing picture of the …
Shenanigans I Say, Shenanigans!
In the ongoing melodrama of the San Diego Frankenstein tax, supporters of Proposition D hit a new low earlier this week with release of the purported financial savings from the tax hike. The City Council authorized Jerry Sanders’ office to develop the fiscal impact statement on how much these so-called reforms will save from the budget. In response, RINO Jerry …
RINO Exhibit at City Hall Zoo
As the melodrama surrounding City Hall unfolded this week, one thing became obvious to all observers of city and local politics. Jerry Sanders has shown himself to be a R.I.N.O. (Republican in Name Only) who lacks the ability to lead this city. His commitment to Republican principles has been whispered about for years. This week has shown Jerry to be …
