A California state Democrat lawmaker steals $2,500 worth of clothes and claims a brain tumor made her do it?
And gets off with a $200 fine??
And yet she still gets to vote on our state’s spending and on managing our personal lives???
Welcome to the Golden State.

If her legal justification for unwittingly committing a crime is that she has a brain tumor that affects her judgment, then it should be argued that she legally is unfit to serve as a legislator and should be removed immediately.
Does she have brain tumor that affects her judgment, or just a brain that affects it?
There is currently a story on the Sacramento Bee website about neurologist not buying her story.
The part I love is how her spinmeister gave out every excuse in the weeks after her arrested, but never mentioned a brain tumor. Let me repeat that, a freaking BRAIN TUMOR was never mentioned. Can’t wait to see the unbiased, willing to attack the 1% OWS, picket and protest this. I would love to see what would have happened had a Black teenager stole$2500 worth of merchandise from Neimans what would have happened. Sure he would have received the same “punishment”.
Also, compare the coverage of the Los Angeles Times, of Tim Donnelly’s gun mishap, with Mrs. Hayashi’s. No bias there.
Let’s pretend she DID plan to pay. A blouse, a skirt and a pair of boots for $2,500?? And as a Democrat, she represents the poor, the lame and the halt??
I love Democrat legislators issuing this thief DE FACTO pardons so she can continue to vote, supporting the public employee labor unions. This absolution speaks volumes about the ethics of Dem lawmakers.
My abject apologies in this matter. In an earlier comment I derided her selection (purchase?) of “a blouse, a skirt and a pair of boots for $2,500.”
How wrong I was. That SHOULD have read “a blouse, a skirt and a pair of LEATHER PANTS.”
I am SO ashamed.
Unlike our legislator.
