Bob Filner, Scott Peters, and their “bad behavior bailout”

From the NRCC…

Just this week, the Scott-Peters-endorsed Mayor of San Diego, Bob Filner, asked taxpayers to foot the bill for his legal fees in the sexual harassment case filed by one of his top aides. The City said no.

While the City is pushing back on Filner, this should remind us of a certain other San Diego politician, Scott Peters, who requested the taxpayers pay his legal fees. And they did.

Let’s revisit —

After Scott Peters voted to increase public employee pension benefits, but not to pay for them, he approved fraudulent bond disclosures that triggered an investigation. The city of San Diego footed the bill for Peters’ expensive lawyers, costing taxpayers $600,000.

NRCC Comment:
“While Peters was shamed into condemning Filner’s behavior, Peters and Filner do share more than just their ‘Democrat’ title. Both requested taxpayers foot the bill for their bad behavior bailout. The only difference is, Scott Peters got his, to the tune of $600,000.” – Alleigh Marré, NRCC Spokeswoman

  1. Since the whole city endorsed Filner by voting for him last November, shouldn’t this be changed to “the City of San Diego Endorsed Mayor…”?
