AMERICA, the most beautiful sound this 4th of July
(What unites us is far greater than what divides us)
by Hon. Fred Schnaubelt
AMERICA. The most beautiful sound I ever heard. America, America, all the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word. On this July 4th AMERICA of mass immigration is fulfilling the dreams of those rushing to this land of plenty. All over the world America is known as a land of life and liberty where immigrants can pursue their happiness. A land of 327 million people including 44 million foreign born and perhaps another 12-30 million illegally here.
There are those who tell us America has never been more divided. Perhaps they were never taught the U.S. Civil War when 750,000 American died divided over slavery, or the War for Independence, where 25,000 British, later called American colonists died between 1775 and 1783, originally, known as a Civil War fought between Englishmen separated by an ocean. To call it a Revolutionary War is a misnomer because there was no revolutionary change in the form government but a war to secure the “Immemorial Rights of Englishmen,” rights going back to the 1215 Magna Carta, and re-establishing property rights, freedoms of speech, press, religion, assembly, trial by jury and no taxation without representation in America. (What unites us is far greater than what divides us).
“Nothing is so powerful as an idea whose time has come.” THE MOST POWERFUL IDEA IN HUMAN HISTORY IS “ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL AND ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN UNALIENABLE RIGHTS.”
This made America Exceptional – made America Great! (an idea – which was a break with all previous history). It means our human rights come from the Creator — not from a sovereign — not from government. Still being perfected, this ideal, this promise is so powerful that in little over two hundred years America rose from nothing to the richest most powerful nation in history.
Yet today, perhaps half the population wants to return to a time before there was a government of, by, and for the people — To “fundamentally transform the United States,” — to return to that form of government extant since Plato where a relative handful of the “anointed” run the lives of everyone (the benighted) while galumphingly claiming to be the people or speak for the people, and claiming “their form of Socialism is different.” Since Progressive President Woodrow Wilson, the left has been trying to restore the old regime where professional bureaucrats controlled the economy (without voter approval) with their scientific, technical management. (Unintentionally, returning to perpetual and universal poverty).
Democrat Wilson wanted to limit, he said, “the error of trying to do too much by vote.” and wanted to establish an Administrative state, “free us from the idea that checks and balances are to be carried down through all stages organization.” Wilson claimed the Declaration of Independence “applied to no generation but the founder’s own…” and each succeeding generation should make its own rules such as community should replace personal self-interest and general welfare should replace self-interest. At least as the anointed define the community and general welfare. Who controls the language controls the people through fear, limits to thought and limiting free will. (NEWSPEAK) “Whoever controls the past controls the future.”
America’s free enterprise system makes rich men poor and poor men rich with America having the richest poor people in the world and average Americans having a higher standard of living than kings, queens, princes and potentates of only 100 years ago.
What’s incredible is ungrateful millionaires claiming the American Flag is racist and particularly the Betsy Ross Flag representing 13 original colonies. Never mentioned is reparations to the descendants of 360,000 Union soldiers who died to free 3,953,761 slaves (according to the 1860 Census). Today, there are 380,000 Black millionaires (4 billionaires) in the U.S. and in 2005 Blacks collectively possessed greater wealth than the GDP of 55 African countries — in 2016 more than 1/3 of the GDP of Africa, according to President Obama, World Bank, and AfricaCheck.org. This is a legacy of slavery and “on the eve of the Civil War, a slave or a slave owner would hardly have believed these gains possible in less than a 150 years, if ever.”
A migrant replying to his children asking why they were migrating to America, said, “Because we were born Americans, just in the wrong place.”
