Judge Wapner did it, why not YOU?  There are three open seats on the SD Superior Court this year, and in one of them (office 34) only one candidate has so far filed, per the official records.  If you or an attorney friend has always wanted to run, here is your Engraved Invitation.  Get down to the Registrar of Voters (5201 Ruffin Road, Suite I, San Diego) on  Monday, February 13 before 5:00 pm,  fill out a Declaration of Intention and write a $1,788 check … and then BAM! … you too can be a major candidate for San Diego Superior Court Judge.

…..WHO  IS  RUNNING  AND  WHO  QUALIFIES  FOR  JUDGE

Qualifications — Per the County’s “Candidate Filing Guide”, a candidate for judge must be (a) “Citizen of the United States and (b) a member of the State Bar for ten (10) years or have served as a Judge of a California court of record for ten (10) years immediately preceding the election (Cal. Constitution, Article VI, Sec. 15)”.   If elected, the job pays $178,789.50 annually, as of now.

Here are the hopefuls who have so far filed for three open seats in which incumbent judges are not seeking new terms in office, per the Voter Registrar’s candidate logs as of Friday afternoon:

OFFICE 34…. Just one candidate to date, Garland Peed.

OFFICE  24…. Two Candidates, David Berry and Terrie Roberts.

OFFICE 25…. Two candidates, James Miller Jr.  and Robert Amador .

Who, if anyone, will be next?  Stay tuned to SD Rostra, where we are Live, Local and Late-Breaking.

.

DISCLOSURE:   Jim Sills has no existing professional  campaign connection to candidates mentioned in this article.
