From GOP Chairman Tony Krvaric
On Monday night the Republican Party of San Diego County met to finish up June endorsement considerations and get a head start on the November elections.
For the June election these candidates were endorsed:
- CA Assembly, District 76: Rocky Chavez (majority vote)
- U.S. Congressional, District 51: Juan Hidalgo, Jr. (majority vote)
- U.S. Congressional, District 53: James D. Veltmeyer (2/3 vote)
- County Board of Supervisors, District 3: Sam Abed (2/3 vote)
- Chula Vista, Seat 3: Jason Paguio (2/3 vote)
- Chula Vista, Seat 4: Emmanuel Soto (2/3 vote)
In the following races no candidate received the 2/3 threshold required for an endorsement in a race where more than one Republican is running:
- CA Assembly, District 71
- U.S. Congressional, District 52
Previously endorsed June candidates include:
- CA Assembly, District 75: Marie Waldron
- CA Assembly, District 77: Brian Maienschein
- U.S. Congressional, District 49: Darrell Issa
- U.S. Congressional, District 50: Duncan Hunter
- San Diego, Mayor: Kevin Faulconer
- San Diego, City Attorney: Robert Hickey
- San Diego City Council, District 1: Ray Ellis
- San Diego City Council, District 4, Mark Kersey
- San Diego City Council, District 7: Scott Sherman
Note: There are still some June races where only one Republican has filed. Since the filing deadline has now passed, those candidates are eligible for a Chairman’s endorsement and will be considered in the weeks to come.
