From GOP Chairman Tony Krvaric

On Monday night the Republican Party of San Diego County met to finish up June endorsement considerations and get a head start on the November elections.

For the June election these candidates were endorsed:

  • CA Assembly, District 76: Rocky Chavez (majority vote)
  • U.S. Congressional, District 51: Juan Hidalgo, Jr. (majority vote)
  • U.S. Congressional, District 53: James D. Veltmeyer (2/3 vote)
  • County Board of Supervisors, District 3: Sam Abed (2/3 vote)
  • Chula Vista, Seat 3: Jason Paguio (2/3 vote)
  • Chula Vista, Seat 4: Emmanuel Soto (2/3 vote)

In the following races no candidate received the 2/3 threshold required for an endorsement in a race where more than one Republican is running:

  • CA Assembly, District 71
  • U.S. Congressional, District 52

Previously endorsed June candidates include:

  • CA Assembly, District 75: Marie Waldron
  • CA Assembly, District 77: Brian Maienschein
  • U.S. Congressional, District 49: Darrell Issa

  1. WOW – Sam Abed got 2/3rds vote against Kristen Gaspar. Who dropped the ball on her team? How can you not know your vote count? Biggest surprise of the night.
