Carl DeMaio is good man and a great candidate. I financially supported him for Mayor of San Diego and volunteered for his campaign. If he advances after the election on Tuesday, he will have my support against Scott Peters but today, I support Kirk Jorgensen for Congress.
I am impressed with Fred Simon but Jorgensen’s campaign caught more fire. I admire Kirk for his service to our country, his defense of the Constitution, and his pro-Life commitment. I think the Constitution is supposed to protect all individuals including the unborn children.
My husband explains that DeMaio’s platform is not necessarily anti-Life and is aligned with former Congressman Brian Bilbray. There are two differences between DeMaio and Bilbray. Bilbray was an incumbent and he voted with the pro-Life Republicans on issues like partial-birth abortion. Carl DeMaio has had six months to explain how he would vote on those issues. I am disappointed that he didn’t.
This isn’t the first time my husband and I disagreed. I voted for the conservative for Governor during the Gray Davis recall. My husband voted for the ultimate Governor and remarked that “losers don’t legislate.” Kirk Jorgensen is no loser.
I think it’s important that Republicans vote their conscience in the primaries instead of trying to handicap the general election like it’s a horse race. I am a Republican and I support Kirk Jorgensen on Tuesday.
