Ballots by Party June 4 2010

The Republican edge in Mail voting continued
to rapidly grow in San Diego County on Friday,
June 4.

Among the 9,370 vote-by-mails arriving at the
Registrar that day, the GOP comprised 50%,
vs. 33% for Dems, 15% Independent, and
2% minor parties.

That’s a stunning 17% one-day lead. The GOP
share of all 187,219 mail ballots received to
date is now 44.4% vs. 36.1% Democratic.

Who will the GOP surge help? Ron Roberts
and Bill Horn for County Supervisor, Lori Zapf
and Kim Tran in SD Council 6, Kevin Faulconer,
SD Council 2, Jay La Suer for Sheriff, & Joel
Anderson
in his home county of State Senate
Dist. 36.

Our data source is the San Diego Registrar of Voters office. Ballots processed June 4th
were 4,680 GOP, 3124 Demo, 1338 Independent and 228 minor parties.

Why the Big difference? Possible explanations include: (1) Republican base is
more energized now (2) past ACORN registrations proving an ephemeral influence
(3) Republican activity in Joel Anderson/Jeff Stone race, Jay La Suer/Duffy/Gore
for Sheriff, Chris Rubin/Wells/Jones in 77th AD, SD and Calif. Republican Party
registrations, and Whitman/Poizner/DeVore/ Fiorina at the statewide level.

Stay tuned for further updates on SD Rostra, where we are Live, Local and
Late Breaking.

  1. I was told by the Registrar that they wont distribute data for districts/races (as was done on here previously for the Dist 8 Race).

Is anyone else able to tabulate the rep/dem/ind votes for the races going on right now?

I’m curious how the votes look in the south bay

  2. We don’t know what you are asking. No vote totals are released until the polls close.

  3. Hello Erin:

Pretty sure you are asking how many mail ballots
have been returned so far by Republicans and
Democrats in the great South Bay.

I was told the same thing, they do not have the
system in place to break it out by district.

The SD Registrar staff are the most accomodating
to the public of any in southern California. If they
could get it for you, they would do so.

  4. The ROV has the total votes so far by party breakdown by precinct in a public file at their office. You just need to do the precinct-to-district work yourself.
