The “Trump Is Russian Puppet Meme” is a Lie, Republicans Should Point This Out

I’m no apologist for President Trump but let’s get this straight– Trump has never been in bed with Russia.  If anything, this meme is a classic Alinsky-ite tactic by Barack Obama.   Let’s start here:

1- The 2008 election was a signal that the American voters didn’t want ‘politics as usual”.  President Obama promised to” fundamentally transform the United States of America” .
2- Valerie Jarrett was President Obama’s closest adviser and architect of most of his political agenda
3- The 2016 election was a rejection of the Obama/Jarrett agenda
4- President Obama stated as much in the 2016 campaign (why a sitting President campaigns befuddles me)
5- President Trump won.
6- President Obama said he would actively oppose President Trump some 60 days after Trump was elected.
7- Valerie Jarrett moved into the Obamas’ DC home to direct the campaign to discredit President Trump.

Okayfine. Obama hates Trump and, in what can only be described as an astounding development, chooses to actively campaign after he has left office.  Obama’s Presidency was rejected by the American voters–that is his legacy.

Obama is trying to discredit the Trump win because he lost in the battle of ideas.  The meme “Trump won because he’s in bed with the Russians” is really just Obama projecting; Obama was the Russian sympathizer.  To wit:

1- Obama made fun of Romney, in a 2012 debate, when Romney said Russia was the greatest geopolitical threat.
2- Obama was collaborating with Russian President-Elect Putin through Russian President Medvedev, in the 2012 election.
3- As a Senator, Obama and Senator Lugar convinced the Ukrainians to disarm, promising to protect them.  When Russia invaded the Crimean Peninsula, President Obama advised the Ukraine to “stand down” and did nothing to help them.
4- The Obama Iranian deal  was a boon to Russia, allowing it to sell arms and build Iran’s infrastructure.  (with US taxpayers’ money)

Obama was soft on Russia, not Trump.  This whole meme is a desperate attempt to spread disinformation and discredit Obama’s successor because he ran against Obama’s legacy…and won.

Republicans are being stupid, once again,  Each time a Trump Administration official is attacked with these lies, Republicans retreat into a safe space and cower.  They should rally around the accused, call “Bulls***” on the accusers, and go on with the business of governing.

The American voters chose President Trump and a Republican majority in the Congress because they don’t want 8 years of progressive politics.  The Obamas and their machine are a pack of liars.  Shout THAT to the rooftops.

  1. Brian,

It is is good to see that you are still supportive of our President but I will stick with my prediction that your support won’t last through the summer.

I am also happy that you are still single-handedly trying to keep this blog alive but you will have to do better than “Obama’s Presidency was rejected by the American voters.” In fact, President Obama left office with approval ratings approaching 60%, numbers that President Trump would probably literally kill for.

  2. “Trump has never been in bed with Russia. ” You sure ’bout that?
To quote Dylan “You know somethings happening here but you don’t know what it is,
    do you Mr. Jones”.

“Are you ok with Trump’s latest tweet storm?”

I don’t know if I’m “okay” with any of this. I respect that Trump (unlike the surrender caucus of the GOP) is calling out Obama for interfering in his ability to govern but I am disgusted that politics has turned into a reality show these past 8 years. I am reminded of this HL Mencken quote:

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

I started this article off by saying that I’m no Trump apologist but former President Obama’s behavior is appalling to me. Would that he took his predecessor’s lead and find a hobby.

The real problem is that current assault on The Republic is much like the Battle of Thermopylae and, while I believe there are 300 Spartans available, Trump is no Leonidas. Unlike the threat the Spartans faced, the overwhelming force against the 300 are domestic rather than external.

You just described the right wing media to a tee.

  5. “I’m no apologist for President Trump, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.”
