After the failed missile attack Team Carl launched at Nathan during last night’s debate we’re hearing there’s quite a bit of finger-pointing and blame game going on at Team DeMaio.
We’re hearing Duane Dichiara is responsible for the debate flop and folks are not happy about it. Whether or not there’s a potential shake up remains to be seen. Luckily for Duane he has the ability to shift money from city council races into the mayor’s race so Carl is unlikely to replace him.

We don’t typically do this, but frankly, this is one of the weakest posts on Rostra in some time. We don’t mind smack posts, that’s part of Rostra’s nature. But, to state things as givens without any critical analysis whatsoever pretty much speaks for itself. It certainly doesn’t raise the level of debate. The problems with such a post…
-What in the opinion of the author was the failure of the “missile attack”? Not one shred of the author’s analysis is included.
-Why was it a debate flop? We know that’s his opinion, but it’s stated as a given, again without any reasons on the author’s part as to why he believes so.
-“We’re hearing” this and “we’re hearing” that. Yeah, the bloggers here are insiders and hear things. But, who is “we,” Matt? You, or are you speaking for others unnamed? (The “we.”) The reporting of things “heard” is worthwhile at times on Rostra, but when it’s used for the purpose of starting a whispering campaign, without any substantiation at all, it has no credibility.
The next six weeks or so could be used for some real “thinking” posts on Rostra, or for bottom of the barrel stuff. Let’s think about it.
The admins will do what is needed to ensure Rostra isn’t used for unsubstantiated hits and whispering efforts.
Duane Dichiara is a name tied to winning campaigns in San Diego for 17 years: since 1995 when he helped Byron Wear (R) keep SD Council District 2 in GOP hands.
In subsequent years he has aided Shirley Horton, Martin Garrick, Kevin Faulconer, Brian Bilbray and dozens of other Republicans to victories in tough races.
“I’m hearing” that Duane Dichiara is a winner, and will continue to be for a long time to come.

I’m more interested in the claim that Duane “has the ability to shift money from city council races into the mayor’s race.”
Thanks TA!!!
Maybe you guys should do a phone survey to see if anyone cares first? Then come up with another catch phrase to run by your consultants to see if they think it will play well with disenfranchised voters. Then post an attack of your enemies-…I mean “opponents” and mention how you hate it when politicians attack. Then get Nathan to wrap it all up into a $50,000 video with a demonstrative, breathy voice that would make any 8th grade drama club student proud.
In the meantime Carl will be refining his actual plan to get San Diego out of financial trouble while the rest of us laugh at your candidate’s bike sidewalk idea.
Jefferson, yep, that claim was so “out there” in it’s lack of an explanation or details, as well as such an implication of illegality or at least “up to no good,” we didn’t even know how to address the absurdity. But, then we realized Duane has the ability to both walk on water and stand up in the heart of hell, so we figured it might be true.
Sounds like this is more “Rumint” from the Fletcher camp…
Yeah that’s right: Rumint. Hi Nathan.
LOL. “Matt Brandeis” just wrecked his credibility. Welcome to the jungle, big shot.
Seems like Matt enjoyed 4/20 just a little bit too much yesterday
Worst Rostra post ever.
Nathan’s Rumint seems to be off.
