Three things to know before you vote

A message from Erik Caldwell to the San Diego Republican Central Committee:

Three things you should know before you vote tomorrow:

1.  Yesterday the Carl DeMaio campaign acknowledged they sent an anonymous mailer to you in an attempt to distort Nathan Fletcher’s record. This is the type of gutter politics that has no place in our party. This election will undoubtedly get very contentious.  We look forward to presenting voters with the differences between Fletcher and DeMaio, BUT we will not do it with anonymous mailers.

2. DeMaio made Nathan’s score with the Capitol Resource Institute an issue in this election. Nathan doesn’t believe it is the role of the government to legislate morality. He believes it is the role of our families and our faith. As a Christian and as a father, Nathan takes this responsibility seriously. But the irony of DeMaio’s attack is that he never told you how he would have voted on the bills he criticized Nathan for supporting.  I urge you to ask him how he would have voted on SB48 and other legislation listed on this scorecard.

3. The DeMaio campaign will actively try to manipulate the voting rules prior to tomorrow’s vote. We urge you to defend the rules that were established and sent to every member in advance of the vote. Again, these types of overt, self-serving political ploys have no place in our party and should be met with strong resistance.

Thank you all for participating. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

  1. Eric-

Curious. Are you still on Fletcher’s state staff or have you moved over to the campaign side?

  2. I think that any time someone who is a state legislator runs for office – whether re-election or for a different office, the best indicator of what they will do is to look at their past record.

My counsel to any conservative trying to assess the voting record of a legislator is to check out the California Republican Assembly scorecard. It is literally the best one out there.

  3. Why does Caldwell use the disclaimer “Central Committee Member” and not identify him as Fletcher’s Chief of Staff, or even as Nathan Fletcher’s alternate on the Central Committee?

    Lame.
