Former Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is eyeing a return to Congress, as his nomination by President Trump to lead a U.S. trade agency stalls in the Senate.

Issa, who left the House in early January after not seeking reelection, is carefully tracking the federal corruption case involving GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter, whose San Diego-area district is adjacent to the one Issa used to represent.

  1. Does he even live in the 50th District? I don’t think so but I could be wrong. I don’t want to see him run. He chose not to run for re-election – IMHO – because he saw the “L” coming.

Why does he want to run in the 50th? It’s not as hard a district for a Republican to win compared to his own district. I’m sorry but if he doesn’t live here, carpet baggers need not apply. If you want to serve the people, how about serving the people in the district you actually live in?

  2. He’s welcome to run in my district, assuming Duncan doesn’t. He would serve us well.

  3. Like Hunter’s last opponent Issa is of middle eastern blood. Perhaps Hunter Sr. will call him out as a terrorist threat too.
