KPBS breaks that a second woman accuses Bob Filner of sexual harassment back in 2005. Pay close attention to this statement:
Though several people witnessed the incident, Fink—co-founder of the non-profit Fink & Hernandez Consulting—said she did not go public about the encounter at the time because she “was trying to build a career in the political field … and Bob Filner has a reputation for swift retribution and for holding grudges.”
They saw it and kept quiet about it because they feared retribution. Former Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña’s “told you so” is looking more and more credible. This begets my repeatedly asked question (which Saladana promised to answer, nine days ago):
“Did the San Diego Democratic Party threaten to withhold support from you if you refused to endorse Filner in the Mayoral election?”
Saldaña suggested it was an answer that would take more than 140 characters. Scott Lewis offered to post her explanation on Voice of San Diego, five days ago. I promise to read it when it comes out.
Isn’t it time you spoke up about the culture of silence and coercion at the San Diego Democratic Party, Lori?
