This is in response to Michael Schwartz’s post, Some Unsolicited Advice for Kirk Jorgensen:

1. On the day after the election, graciously accept defeat and endorse Kirk Jorgensen, then tell the Republican Party of San Diego to do the same.

2. Donate time and money to Kirk’s campaign. Not token, meaningless stuff. I mean real time and real money.

3. Take all that you have built while campaigning and take your efforts back to the private sector where you can best have the influence you want. You’re good at that. You’re just not good at public policy.

4. Don’t release some ridiculous statement about how the Republican Party needs to change and become more moderate anyway, with a list of excuses for not winning, like religious zealots and homophobic haters. Voters all have their own reasons for voting the way they do. Some of us lived in your Council District and simply didn’t like how you handled that office or your failed run for Mayor. Some of us simply disagree strongly with you on the issues.

5. Don’t disappear, but go lobby your supporters in Palm Springs, Florida, and Washington D.C. to support you in your private sector efforts, but please don’t plan a future in politics. Follow Nathan Fletcher’s lead on that.

6. Take Kirk out to lunch and thank him for his service to our country. Invite along Tony Krvaric and Doug Manchester and get them to support Kirk’s candidacy during his three terms as our Congressman.

  1. Just..Boom!

…and now enter the standard “homophobe” ad hominem attacks in…3…2….1..

  2. I have personally talked to voters who won’t support Carl because he is gay, and have chosen Kirk instead. The “attacks” aren’t ad hominem, they’re based in an unfortunate reality.

  3. *****BREAKING*****

FUTURE WARP TIME MACHINE FOOTAGE FOUND OF THE MOMENT KAREN GRUBE REALIZED JORGENSEN AND DONNELLY LOST THEIR PRIMARIES.

But seriously, after this copy and paste job, are we done with the parroted attacks on “plagiarism”?

  4. Re: Two comments above, from our rules:

“Some also believe they are being cute by selecting a handle specifically matched to their comment, such as commenting on Councilman Smith under the name “Smith is a Clown.” That’s not a name and falsely assumes the commenter will be using that same name for every future comment, even when the topic isn’t Councilman Smith. Such comments will be changed to “Anonymous” by administrators.”

    DONE.

  5. Let’s just celebrate the fact that we have three respectable people running. Everything else is just ammo for the other side.

  6. Side note on the rules: What are the chances Rostra could move over to a more modern commenting system, where people have to register and login. That would help with the issue of picking different names.

gopmomofthree, thats a great point. I personally am willing to support whoever the Republican nominee is. Unfortunately, Karen Grube and FF are kamikaze Republicans who won’t support the nominee in November. Nobody really sizes up to their idealistic Republican litmus test, so their support of Republican candidates is arbitrary. As an example, I’m not sure how/if Karen Grube supported Romney/Ryan once they came out in support of abortion exemptions for rape and incest.

  7. “More modern commenting system” — We could now.

When the UT started requiring registration and log-in, comments went down by over 80 percent. The FlashReport blog has way more eyes on it than Rostra, with significantly less comments — it requires a log in.

The comments would be devastated here, as well, we believe.

Those posting anonymously under two names is rare and we easily catch it in almost every case.

There is no need to change.

  8. UB,

Yeah, how inconvenient for “Republicans” to actually expect the “Republican” Party advance candidates that actually believe in Republican tenets..that’s crazy talk.

As your Nom De Plume implies, I am confident you would not support a “Republican” endorsee who touted the virtues of Unions, or the need for higher pensions…yet, you want Republicans who have seen the platform as their guide and example to forego their positions and values…and then they are “Kamikazes” because they won’t abandon their conviction by contributing to the “pragmatism” and “progress” red-herring. The Kamikazes are those abandoning the GOP principles….nowhere will that be more evident when the GOP goes into November with DeMaio…

    “Bonzai!!”

PS- BOLO- Have the “moniker NAZIS” led by Oberfuher R-R-R-R-ider villified you as a coward yet for not using your real name?? He’s a real stickler on that!

  9. “I have personally talked to voters who won’t support Carl because he is gay, and have chosen Kirk instead.”

Funny, I have met scores, if not hundreds of people voting for Kirk..never once has a one of them told me they were voting for Kirk becasue CD is gay. They have told me they don’t support the GOP-endorsed candidate because he is pro-abortion, and doesn’t believe in the sanctity of marriage..and they won’t vote for Peters for the EXACT same reason…please stop the faux outrage and feeble attempt to make Carl out to be some kind of victim..it failed miserably on O’Reilly, and it doesn’t work here.

  10. Bottom line: 95+% of DeMaio Republicans (myself included) would support Jorgensen in the runoff.

But a FAR lower percentage of rabid right Jorgensen supporters will support DeMaio when he beats Jorgensen into the runoff. These anti-gay DeMaio haters (which constitute a fraction of Jorgensen’s total supporters) such as Grube can’t risk a DeMaio victory showing how out of touch they are with most Americans. They’d rather be ruled by socialists than have a socially liberal, free market Republican win an office.

  11. Okay, guys, my post was clearly a parody of Michael Schwartz’s post giving unsolicited advice to Kirk Jorgensen. If any of you took Michael’s post to be anything even remotely resembling serious, thoughtful advice, I have some oceanfront property with a view I’d like to sell you in Oklahoma. Hey, at least I cited my source!

The serious part of this parody is this: when Carl loses, he should stay out of politics completely. He’s just not good at it. Did you see him squirm on O’Reilly? Really, he is much more successful as a consultant or fundraiser in the private sector, working behind the scenes. And I’m certain he’ll have lots of support when he does. It’s just not going to come his way in this election, not because of who he is, but because this Congressional District deserves the most principled and ethical Representative they can possibly elect. That would be Kirk Jorgensen.

  12. Richard Rider, yes, some would rather let a rather ineffectual Democrat serve another two years rather than elect someone whose clear intent it is to fundamentally change the Republican Party, someone who clearly hates Republican core values such as life, marriage, and the Second Amendment. Many think that would at least send a stronger message to the RPSDC and to the NRCC that the candidates they endorse should at least have a semblance of agreeing with their stands on these issues rather than disrespecting them totally and wanting to change them. The better message, however, will be to actually elect the best candidate for the job, Kirk Jorgensen.

  13. Yeah, Karen — Carl is an unelectable politician. Can’t win elections. No good at campaigning.

Remind me — how many elections has Jorgensen won to date?

  14. Kudos (of a sort) to Karen Grube — admitting the obvious. She won’t vote for DeMaio under any circumstances. Yet she wants us DeMaio supporters to support Jorgensen in the runoff (if, perchance, he wins — which, of course, he won’t).

If Grube’s rationale about not voting for less than solid social conservative Republicans in order to purify the party is valid, is she not making a strong case for us DeMaio supporters NOT supporting Jorgensen and similar social conservatives in November elections?

Karen, for once — I WILL seriously consider you thoughts on this!

  15. 1st I have to say that I voted for DeMaio for Mayor. not only did he appear confident on his plan the local financial issues, ie pension reform, he told me he would disconnect San Diego from its ICLEI contract. oh well, maybe Falconer?
But I am now voting for and supporting Kirk Jorgensen. Why? Because he is the only one who seems to be publicly taking a stand on the constitution – to uphold it. Peters and DeMaio are not focusing on that (per websites)
We do not need our rep in Congress pushing a reduction of financial benefits – ain’t happening.
We need assertive statesmen like Kirk Jorgensen (a la Mike Lee, Ted Cruz) – who will pull the Republican milquetoasts into their corner so we can restore our constitutional republic before it is too late. per email from the DeMaio camp, he does not align himself with them but mentioned 2 other reps – their allegiance to the U.S. is unknown to me
Peters will unfortunately be one of the top vote getters, but Kirk Jorgensen needs to be the 2nd one so that we can send a message to the progressives and to Obama – OH NO – YOU are NOT going to fundamentally transfer the United States of America !
VOTE FOR KIRK JORGENSEN and tell your friends
I just read that John Boehner may allow Obama’s mass amnesty plan to take place after the November election. Don’t vote politics – vote for the future of our country. Vote for Kirk !
BTW, while you are at it, vote for Barbara Decker if you live in the 78th Assembly District.
