SD Young Democrats’ Colin Parent To Brown Administration – Congratulations!

The San Diego Reader’s David Rice has the story.

Colin Parent, a Two Cathedrals contributor and political director of the San Diego County Young Democrats, has taken over as Director of External Affairs for the California Department of Housing and Community Development as of July 5.

Parent tweeted the good news yesterday.

According to the Young Democrats press release, at HCD Parent “will lead efforts to market the Department’s programs, serve as a liaison to external stakeholders and government entities, and direct the Department’s media relations.”

Parent will remain on the board of the Young Democrats and continue to advise the organization, the press release states.

Also from the press release, Parent’s biography:

“Colin Parent is a San Diego native and graduate of the University of California, San Diego, and the New York University School of Law.

“Colin worked for three years as a commercial litigator at DLA Piper US LLP in San Diego, before joining the Jerry Brown for Governor campaign. On the campaign, Colin co-wrote a series of humorous web videos featuring our once and current Governor. [http://www.themostinterestingmanincalifornia.com.]

“In San Diego, Parent serves on the board of the League of Conservation Voters. He organized and served for two years as the chairperson of a coalition of environmental groups that graded the San Diego City Council’s environmental votes. [Website: http://www.lcvsd.org.]”
