San Diego County’s Ron Nehring concludes his 2nd and final 2-year Term as Republican State Chairman today.  In a farewell message, he takes pride in retiring the State party’s debt, putting it back on its fiscal feet:

“After four years as your Chairman, this morning I’ll step down due to term limits and make way for our new chairman and leadership to guide the Republican Party forward in the Golden State. Incoming Chairman Tom Del Beccaro and Vice Chairman Steve Baric will serve our party very well in the years ahead.   Yet this morning I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the honor of serving as the leader of our party for the last four years.

“Working together, we raised over $73 million, permanently retired nearly $5 million in debt, and today the Republican Party in California is fully prepared to take on the challenges of 2011 and 2012.

“Last year, we registered over 332,000 new Republican voters, beginning the process of closing the Democrats’ voter registration advantage in the state by breaking a record for new Republican voter registration in a gubernatorial election cycle.  We also established our party as the unrivaled national leader in the use of new technologies and social media to organize and communicate.  And we recruited more than 25,000 Republicans from diverse backgrounds into our Networks program.

“I love this party – almost as much as I love this country.

“To me, the two go hand-in-hand because it is our party that has at its core the commitment to preserve, protect and defend the principles upon which this nation was founded and has flourished – liberty, freedom, self-determination, the rule of law, and the defense of that ultimate minority: the individual.

“For the last four years you’ve trusted me as captain of this great ship called the California Republican Party. It is a fine ship with a crew of volunteers, donors, elected officials, candidates and committeemembers that is second to none. For four years we’ve navigated through calm and rough seas — we fought the good fight — we kept the faith.  We remained true to our principles.

“This weekend, our ship has come home to port to be refitted, to take on provisions, and to take on a new captain who will lead us forward. Thank you for the honor to serve my country – our country – as your Chairman.”

Sincerely,

Ron Nehring,   Chairman California Republican Party
