Taxpayer centered message cuts across party lines and shows broad support for Republican ideas in the San Diego Mayor’s race
SAN DIEGO — In reaction to the latest San Diego Mayoral survey, conducted by SurveyUSA for KGTV/10News, party chairman Tony Krvaric issued the following statement:
“Despite Republican registration of 28% in the city, our taxpayer centered candidates garnered a 51% majority – attesting to the broad support that our ideas have among San Diegans, regardless of party affiliation,” said Krvaric.
“The fact is that labor unions have too much power at City Hall, the pension system needs to be seriously reformed and city government exists to serve the needs of taxpayers – and not the other way around.”
“The battle in 2012 will not be Republicans vs. Democrats, but between those who will represent the interests of taxpayers and those who will side with government labor unions at the expense of taxpayers.”
“Bob Filner’s showing of only 25% in a city with over 40% Democratic registration – despite having sky high name ID – shows that he appeals only to a far left, class warfare constituency, outside of the main stream.”
“Claiming that there’s no problem with labor union power at City Hall, the pension system just needs to be refinanced and that hard working San Diegans should pay more in taxes is a total loser with the electorate,” Krvaric concluded.
Note: The Republican Party of San Diego County has not endorsed a candidate for mayor. We will consider an endorsement on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 and it will take a 2/3 vote of committee members present and voting to bestow an endorsement.
