Early totals of returned Mail
Ballots in San Diego
County reveal a clear
“enthusiasm gap”
among the Parties.
Figures released by the
SD Registrar of Voters
show Republicans made
up 39% of Requested
mail ballots…. but the
GOP now comprises
44 % of ballots actually
returned to date.
Democrats are static at
36%, while independents
drop from 21% to 17%,
and minor parties fall from
4% to 3%.
These figures are current
as of June 3, 2010.
Many observers believe Mail Ballots will make up an outright majority of San Diego county votes in the June 8th primary.
This is the latest sign, already noted by National Pollsters, that rank-and-file Republicans are more motivated this year than their rivals. That was clearly NOT the case in 2006 or 2008.
If you have a Vote-by-Mail ballot, mark it and send it in. If you forget, you can still turn it in at your local polling place Election Day or at the Registrar’s Kearny Mesa office.

Absentee and mail-in or permanent absentees always skew conservative. In a low turnout election, it’s even more so. I’m a fan of low turnout elections. It’s a good thing when uninformed and apathetic voters don’t bother to vote, and stay away from the polls on election day. The lower the turnout, the more MY well-informed vote counts.

Thanks for your insights on the election. Your posts are always
interesting. Please continue your contributions to SD Rostra.
FYI SDUT says: “Democrats, independents up; Republicans down”

Mr. M:
Current overall registration in SD County is 36% Democratic,
35% Republican, 23% Independent, and 6% Minor parties.
But people actually TURNING IN BALLOTS so far in this
election (referred to as Voter Turnout) are 44% Republican,
36% Democrat, 17% Independent, and 3% Minor parties.
Sometimes “voter turnout” trumps registration. That’s
happening here, as a 1-point GOP deficit (36-35) turns
into an 8-point lead (44-36).
I find it amazing that the liberals are increasing there voter registration. I have lived here for 60 years and have watched the liberals destroy CA. I am trying as hard as I can to stay in this State, however I do not know how much longer I can stomach the people that the voters of this State put into office. The older I get the more conservative I become and the less tolerant I am becoming of the leadership in this State. At my age I do not expect to see CA return to greatness in my lifetime. The question is do I stay and fight or do I leave and move to a Conservative State where like minded people think, act and prosper.
Larry:
You need to view “It’s a Wonderful Life” again. Though
we’ve never met, I’m aware of your role as a leader in
the county.
If the Urdahls had never been in San Diego, this
would be a poorer place. 2010 is shaping up as
a great year for our cause. Hang in there !
