In papers made public today, Supervisor Greg Cox (R-South Bay) signed a Form 501, declaring his intention to seek a new term in the 1st District in 2012. SD Rostra’s Hydrilla Guerillas again found the key papers first and relayed word to your correspondent. The announcement is seen as good news for SD Republicans.
Cox was re-elected in 2008 with 73% of the vote. He is expected to have a more competitive race in 2012 , if ex-Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny challenges him. Mr. Cox’s 2012 campaign committee reported $220,095 cash-on- hand in a Feb 1st filing. The capable firm of Tom Shepard & Associates has guided Cox’s past supervisor races, with uniformly successful results.
Ducheny’s possible candidacy is only the subject of speculation so far, with no definitive word from the former legislator herself. She spent 6 years in the Assembly and 8 more in the Senate, between 1994 and 2010, in districts which partially overlap Supervisor District 1.
