San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer gave a speech at The Commonwealth Club about the future of the California Republican Party.
By the time Election Day arrived, many people didn’t even know me as the Republican candidate. They knew me as Kevin. And I became the first mayor in San Diego history to hold my inauguration in that man’s neighborhood.
I largely agree with most of what he said in his opening remarks, Faulconer’s defense of free trade is sorely needed in a Republican Party that is flirting with protectionism and trade wars. His advocacy for reform in government is a call to arms to a national Republican Party which has failed at that
More importantly, “Kevin” is taking a stand and offering ideas while other Republicans are quitting or getting sucked into identity politics.
