Fulfilling a campaign pledge, new County Assessor/Recorder Ernie Dronenburg today welcomed the public back into his full-service Kearny Mesa and Chula Vista offices. Under his appointed Democrat predecessor, the public was barred from them in July 2009, owing to “budget reductions” which were not publicly specified … (Please see photograph of Kearny Mesa office sign shown above).
******************************* UPDATE *********** This writer visited the Kearny Mesa office today, and it was buzzing with activity! On the first day open after 18 months, people were getting copies of records, and finding useful information. This further proves Ernie is right in letting the taxpayers back into THEIR offices!
Mr. Dronenburg, a Republican, said he found economies within his existing budget to let the public once again obtain vital records and to do real estate research at these convenient locations, from which they were excluded for 18 months. The offices are located at (A) 9225 Clairemont Mesa Bl. (Kearny Mesa) and (B) at 500 3rd Avenue (in Chula Vista).
That Ernie Dronenburg would get this done 3 weeks after taking office, is no surprise to those who’ve followed his career. Service to the public is his # 1 goal. Once he decides how best to accomplish that, the man wastes no time in doing it.
Here atSD Rostra, we relish Mr. Dronenburg disproving the critics who told us he would be a do-nothing official, rarely venturing far from his North County home! This morning, Ernie Dronenburg is in Chula Vista, personally presiding over the ceremonial re-opening.
Hats off to Ernie Dronenburg, an elected official who actually believes that Public Servants should Serve the Public. What a Concept !

Dronenburg is indeed off to a good start. He’s a straight shooter I wish him well.
With luck, he might even use his position as a bit of a “bully pulpit” to bring to the attention of the press and the public areas of county efficiency yet to be mined.
