Although Michael Smolens teased it in the Union-Trib on Friday and Brian Jones all but directly said it himself (“thinking about it”) Sunday on KUSI, this morning the Senator made it official.
On KUSI, Jones announced he will run in the 50th Congressional District, where a host of other Republicans are already in or “thinking about it” (that phrase again) for the seat held by Congressman Duncan Hunter.
Jones joins fellow GOPers Sam Abed, Carl DeMaio, Darrell Issa, Matt Rahn, Bill Wells, and Larry Wilske, as well as Hunter on the list of candidates either announced for or contemplating a run.
Can you say Donnybrook?
(A press release has been posted to SD Rostra as well.)

Finally.
Someone who resides in our district
Hasn’t voted for the Farm Bill (Hunter & Issa).
Has held elective office.
Has name I.D.
Proven fundraiser and is … Pro-Life
(Sorry Carl. Our natural rights aren’t a cafeteria plan).
One of the most decent public officials in America.
Sigh of relief!
The best choice for the 50th. Brian Jones is local, and always has been local. He’s got character and knows how to get things done. He’s a common sense leader; I’m with Brian Jones.
