U.S. Marine Colonel (ret.), a decade on the Oceanside city council, and 2 years as State Veterans Affairs Secretary and Undersecretary… Rocky Chavez brings an impressive resume’ to the Assembly campaign he declared Wednesday in Oceanside. Redistricting, and term limits, produced an Open Assembly Seat including Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista. True to his name & career, Chavez promised to “fight” for 4 key causes: (1) Small business (2) rights of Veterans (3) the 4 cities of the district and (4) Education for better opportunity and equality.
Also in the GOP field are Sherry Hodges of Encinitas (COS for Assemblywoman Diane Harkey) and Carlsbad city council woman Farrah Douglas. Martin Garrick, who now represents much of the area in the Assembly is term-limited in 2012.
Rocky concluded his 25-year USMC career as a Colonel and Chief of Staff for the Marine 4th Division. He resides in Oceanside with his life Mary. They have 3 adult children.

Well this should be interesting. Is it just me or do you run into people here in North County that Sherry says has endorsed her but haven’t?
I’m going to play a little game and check her endorsement list for a few days every day and see how many go up and down.
