An article was circulating today where Republican Congressman Darrell Issa pointed out that it was the grassroots, rather than the ‘leaders’ of the GOP driving the Party right now. Kudos to him for observing this. Some parts worth reading “The twin successes (ACORN and Jones) highlight the biggest differences between today’s GOP and that of a few years ago when former President George W. Bush was giving marching orders. There is no longer one voice speaking for the whole party.” A quote from Issa himself “It tells you how broad and diffuse the leadership of the Republican Party is.”
Truth is, from my view, the GOP of President George W. Bush and his henchmen was too centralized. It needed some fresh air… some other opinions. Looks like we are getting some of that now. The local GOP could stand to open up a bit too. I’m not saying that some of the more crazy dissent that I get from time to time over the email is worth a second look, but from time to time fresh blood is a good idea.

This happened in 1977-1979 (after Ford & Nixon left) and
again in 1993-1994 ( following the Bush 41 presidency).
Baseball Hall of Famer Earl Weaver may have said it
best, “The Worse it Gets, the Better it Gets”.
In other words: We’ve been humbled, learned some
valuable lessons, and are now on that indispensable
Comeback Trail.
Lord…. feel like I know evey inch of the Comeback Trail.
This is a grassroots election cycle that is being fueled by an economic tsunami coupled with a mad over the top spending spree and grab for power. The establishment on both sides of the isle knows this witnessed by their attack on Sarah Palin. She scares them. Thank God for the Blue Dog Democrats who gave us August recess and Town Halls.
Maybe the local GOP could learn to work with the folks stewing this up, and vice versa.
