Just when you think things can’t get any worse in California, it gets worse. A bill was just signed into law by Governor Brown that will register maybe 6 million low information people to vote. People who go to the DMV (supposedly limited to citizens, but no one will check) for licensing or ID will be AUTOMATICALLY registered to vote unless they specifically opt out. No stinkin’ registration form needed, apparently.

California already has the lowest voter turnout (percent of registered voters) in the nation. This will LOWER that percentage.
The good news is that most of these new registrants will not vote. The bad news is that too many will vote, overwhelmingly voting Democrat and swinging more elections for the progressives. The effect will be felt a bit in 2016, but will grow in subsequent elections.
I suspect this is the edge needed to give both houses of the CA state legislature the coveted 2/3 Democrat majority. With that majority, state taxes can be raised without the voter approval now required. Guess who is going to carry most of that tax burden? HINT: Not the low information voters.
Plus the Democrat state legislators will be able to pass veto-proof legislation covering every aspect of our lives — and businesses. It won’t be long before we long for “the good old days” when Governor Brown vetoed some of the legislation passed. No mas.
The bad news is that this “innovation” will doom the Golden State. But the good news is that we are ALREADY doomed. Why do I not take solace in that?

First LoGo backed driver’s licenses for “undocumented Californians”. Next she gets this law passed that registers anyone with a license to vote. Next will be a huge push for mail-in ballots and special elections and referendums to be mail-in only. Even less scrutiny with mail-in than traditional polling place voting.
Final nail indeed. I think the dictionary term is hegemony.
The only upside is it will quicken California’s eventual implosion under too much taxation, regulation and handouts. Then someone more realistic about how life works will have to pick up the pieces.
Richard,
I have lost track. Is this the 37th or 38th time that you have predicted the end of California as we know it?
Author
Yes, I have stated that California is doomed. But I’ve also stated over and over that it will be a stately decline. It will take MANY years for my prediction to come true. Fortunately wealth and prosperity don’t disappear overnight. Look how long it lasted in Detroit!
I think by any objective measurement that CA IS declining vs. the other states — especially vs. the states that DON’T adopt California policies. But of course, you’ll deny it until the end. It’s what progressives are predisposed to do. IF I were a progressive, that’s what I’D do.
But I’m not. You are.
My prediction is likely valid. Unlike the predictors of global warming doom that too often make short term predictions that don’t come to pass. Like the new era of massive hurricanes predicted after Hurricane Sandy in 2005, or the 2013 complete melting of the Arctic Ice by 2013, predicted in 2009.
Funny, the press never goes back and reviews such predictions. And the predictors (such as Al Gore) still have complete credibility.
Why do you liberals do that, HQ? Are you just gullible, or is it that you love the command economy controls that are advocated to avoid such predictions? Socialism via the environmental scare.
“It will take MANY years for my prediction to come true.”
Now that’s convenient.
Richard, Please refer me to any instance in any state where anything more than a miniscule percentage of non-citizens have voted.
That’s right. Democrats need to think big. Why not just send out worldwide e-ballots?
Richard, You are right about one thing, the economies of North Dakota and Texas are doing much better than here, and when the drilling and/or mining is tapped out the private sector will leave the tax payer with the clean-up bill. These states will then need help from the feds (you and me). This scenario has played out many times in this country and you (being a good student of history) know this. There are plenty of idiotic regulations. Why not document them and lobby to change them instead of just whining about regulation in genaral, unless you want to return to the good old days of Love Canal and burning rivers.

PAUL THERRIO — I’m not as concerned with illegals voting as I am that CLUELESS people find voting easy. That was the crux of my post — the danger of more low information voters mindlessly voting Democrat (they are YOUR people, you know). Did you read my article?
That being said, when one can easily sign up to vote and no one checks if you are a citizen, surely more illegals WILL vote — and vote Democrat. But they will be less of an influence than your zombie voters who are citizens — who can be “assisted” in voting by mail. Too often “Sign here” will constitute their total voting effort.

HQ, it would be “convenient” if I had not stated that “stately decline” aspect from the first (whenever the first was). Am I to be as clueless as your progressive pundits, claiming disaster is upon us in a short time frame?
Don’t blame ME for making reasonable predictions, understanding that such a large economy or state will not turn on a dime. It took decades of prosperity to raise California to the heights — it will take many years for it’s decline to be complete (or reversed).
Instead, you should be defending your bozo icons for being WRONG with their predictions. Oops, I guess you won’t be doing that, will you, HQ. “Don’t look back” is the liberals’ motto.

PAUL THERRIO — Lots of nonsense there in your post! Especially Texas, which is a diversified economy and becoming more so every day.
Funny you bring up Love Canal — one of those liberal deformed poster child(ren) you folks keep bringing up. Turns out that Love Canal was much ado about nothing. Check out this SLATE article that looks back 30 years later. The MSM doesn’t want to look back, of course.

My bad Richard. After doing some research I have determined that industrial pollution is a total myth! It’s just a ruse to destroy capitalism. The true cause of all cancers is liberalism and the MSM.The ocean that I’ve been surfing in since the “50’s has degraded only because of the will of God. Thanks for putting me on the square.
