Chavez defends his vote to raise gas prices by up to 73 cents a gallon

Says he “did it for the industries”

Oceanside, CA — In a stunning admission, State Assemblyman Rocky Chavez has admitted that his vote for Governor Jerry Brown’s Cap and Trade Bill that is raising California gas prices by up to 73 cents a gallon, was made “for the industries.”

Chavez made the startling admission in an interview with the Voice of San Diego, “the cap and trade vote, I didn’t just vote for it I helped negotiate it. And I didn’t do it to help out Jerry Brown, I did it for the industries,” Chavez stated.

“Somebody forgot to tell Chavez that Legislators are supposed to represent the people, not the special interests,” said Republican Diane Harkey, the leading candidate to succeed U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa in the 49th District. “Gas taxes and fees in California are too high. That’s why I am working to repeal the recent Gas and Car tax and as a member of the BOE I stood up to Jerry Brown, said NO, and defeated yet another gas tax increase.”

Diane Harkey is endorsed by Congressman Issa, the Republican Party of San Diego County and the Republican Party of Orange County. She also enjoys the full support of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
