  1. Do you have to attend to find out what CalTrans did? May be I just missed the news that day…seems pretty bad though.

  3. “CalTrans has refused to erect signs on I-805 and I-15 to direct motorists to Miramar National Cemetery.”

Here’s what you do, then…you just erect those signs yourself. This is why guys like Bob Filner (as kooky and as wrong as he is) get elected; they show daring leadership.

The first thing you do is make 10 corrugated plastic temporary signs and put them along the highway yourself. That sets the tine with CalTRANS that you really mean business. This press conference is a PR stunt anyway so hammering the temporary signs in gets you the same PR exposure.

California’s broke (Messrs Anderson, Wyland and Garrick tell us this all the time) so you go to a bunch of American Legion halls and ask for donations. It probably costs 5-10 grand for this project. You put out an email to your constituents asking for donations and not act surprised when you get twice the amount you need for the project,

Bifurcate the Democrats by asking the local unions to volunteer to install the permanent signs, on a Sunday morning, and dare the apparatchiks at CalTRANS to stop you. If CHP shows up to put you in bracelets, smile as wildly as you can for the mug shot because you just became a folk hero.

“Conservative” politicians harp about free citizens solving problems better than politburos but keep banging their heads up against the politburos and losing elections. Time to “walk the walk” rather than just “talk the talk”. Just…do…it.

  5. Beside the massive multi-Billion-dollar increase to the Federal Veterans Affairs Budget that Congressman Bob Filner percured for Veterans in general, Congress are finally holding the VA Executives feet to the fire to deliver on their promises of improvements to Mental Health Care and Accountability, and Veterans employment.
