“I can write better than anybody who can write faster, and I can write faster than anybody who can write better.”
– A. J. Liebling (1904-1963)

I’m counting on these words to guide me in my role as one of your bloggers here on SDRostra.

While people seem to assume I’m a conservative, I am in fact a Libertarian through and through. Libertarians are NOT conservatives in all matters and my goal is to illuminate and explore the differences. And perhaps convert a few of you in thought if not in party registration.

By way of background, like many Libertarians I am a small business owner. I have a public relations consulting firm, the Falcon Valley Group. I am also a former broadcast producer and host in San Diego (KSDO, KFMB TV, KPBS) and still get my kicks in front of an open mike as guest host on “The Rick Amato Show” Thursday nights from 9 – 11 p.m on KCBQ AM 1170.

Our great nation was founded not on democratic principles, but LIBERTARIAN principles of individual freedom (and the responsibilities that go with those freedoms), the free market, private property, and government only to the extent it is needed to keep order. Our Constitution reflects the notion that individuals have both God-given and natural rights to live as they choose as long as their conduct doesn’t infringe on the same rights of others and that government exists to preserve those rights, not hinder them.

When I talk to people about libertarian thought, people realize they are much more libertarian than they imagine. That’s my job here! We’ll mull over current topics like health care, taxation, Social Security, Second Amendment rights, drug laws, education, and look at the many ways our freedoms and well-being are negatively affected by the government We The People are supposed to control every day.

Let’s take the discussion seriously, but never ourselves. Good people can disagree without being disagreeable. I welcome it and look forward to it!

  1. As a fellow Libertarian, I salute you, Gayle! Let’s sound the trumpets for the TLC (Tiny Libertarian Conspiracy)!

Thanks to SD Rostra for giving Gayle a place to spread the word.

  2. Welcome, Gayle, it’s good to be on the same team with you again!
I enjoyed your stint on KCBQ. Is more radio in your future? Hope
so, you handled the job in front of the microphone just fine. All the
best to a woman of character.

  3. Gents, thank you! I am on KCBQ tonight from 9-11 p.m. and we’ll locked and loaded talking about a favorite topic: Second Amendment rights! is the BEST way to listen, or 1170AM. The second hour will be open phones so tell a friend and ring me up! 888-344-1170.

  4. Gail, some of these conservatives don’t know what a babe you are. Put a good picture up for the guys to see. And no, not the one you like so much of the cute dog.

  5. Post

All right boys, sheesh. I thought you wanted me for my clear thinking and it’s quickly turned into Girls With Guns. See the thread on sometime if you dig that sort of thing.

Truth is there seems to be a dearth of women Libertarians. So the bar isn’t set all that high, ha!

I’ve ponied up a previously unpublished pic for my profile, and by popular demand I’ll post the rifle photo as part of a future post… gotta stay tuned.

And now I better get to the gym so I can maintain my bragging rights to better guns than Michelle Obama. Honey, you ain’t got nothin’ on me.
