With five weeks to election day, the campaign of San Diego Mayoral candidate Carl DeMaio launched its second General Election TV ad entitled “Leading by Example.”

“Last week, we were proud to have earned the endorsements of San Diego’s most prominent Democrat, Dr.  Irwin Jacobs, and the city’s highest-elected Republican, Mayor Jerry Sanders,” noted Ryan Clumpner, Campaign Manager.  “San Diegans are looking for a Mayor who walks that walk, rather than talking the talk, which is why our new ad focuses on Carl’s record of leading by example: cutting his compensation, turning down his city pension, and reducing his own city council budget,” noted Clumpner.

The verbal script of the ad is as follows:

“San Diego needs strong leadership. Carl DeMaio has a record of reform and leads by example. Carl DeMaio cut his own compensation 22 percent on day one in office. DeMaio turned down the politicians’ pension, giving up $500,000 in lifelong pension payments. DeMaio cut his budget 15 percent returning over 600,000 tax dollars back to San Diego. Carl DeMaio brings people together. Carl DeMaio leading by example.
