A key player in County government’s financial success, Dan McAllister,
will seek a new term as San Diego  County Treasurer. McAllister’s cam-
paign  filed  the required paper work today (Wednesday).
Dan McAllister toppled an incumbent during county elections in 2002.
His lengthy role as a San Diego GOP leader dates to the 1980s. So far,
he has no announced opponent for 2010.
His responsibilities include managing $6.2 Billion (!)  in public funds,
including the County investment Pool, and other key portfolios.  
How well has McAllister done in handling that weighty job?
This well:  The prestigious “Standard & Poor’s”  gives San Diego County
the  highest possible financial rating  (AAAf/S1) !
McAllister prepped for this vital role with a private sector career
as a financial consultant and investment broker with a National
firm.  His education includes degrees from Fresno State (BA)  and
San Diego’s USIU (MBA).  He completed  executive education
programs at Stanford and Pennsylvania’s famous Wharton 
School of Business.   
He serves on the Board of Directors for the Jackie Robinson YMCA
and also Big Brothers/Big Sisters of San Diego.
