Carl’s Jr. IS a California company. Always has been. But now it’s a nationwide business, and there’s millions and millions of reasons for the company to move its HQ out of the uber-anti-business Golden State. Tennessee won the HQ sweepstakes — and Carl’s Jr. is only their latest business acquisition.
The HQ’s employ only about 150 people. But many if not most of those positions pay six figure incomes. A handful might earn seven figure compensation. There are no burger flippers in Carl’s HQ.
Tennessee has no “earned income” tax. They tax only dividends and interest. But there are many other positive aspects, especially compared to high-priced CA.
Consider the cost of living. If we assign 100% to the national COL average, Tennessee is only 90.3% of that average. But California is 34.3% HIGHER than the national average. Comparing the two states, California’s COL is 48.7% higher than Tennessee

Here’s the link to the OC REGISTER story on this move. To the geniuses running the state, it’s a complete mystery why any California company interested in their bottom line would even think of relocating outside the state.

But not to worry. As Governor Jerry Brown airily intoned (sorry) regarding a Rick Perry ad in CA that touted Texas for business relocation, it’s “barely a fart.” But this gaseous state (another apology) seems to be an increasing problem in our Workers’ Paradise.

I don’t know how the Union-Tribune has covered it, but 4 days after announcing their move, the Los Angeles Times, the same company that wants a monopoly on the ownership of the major newspapers in southern California, still has not mentioned this once. Guess they didn’t want anything like the facts and the truth to disprove their false narrative that California is good for business and that businesses leaving the state is a myth made up by those evil Republicans. But hey, at least they have full coverage on the film industry in China.
